“Good value for money”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

We stayed here on our way from Toronto to Red Rock & just needed a good nights sleep on a long car journey. We were pleasantly surprised because we were not sure what we would get for the price we were paying. Yes the motel could probably do with refurbishing at some time but the room was clean as was the bed with crisp white bedlinen. The host was very pleasant & friendly & nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed free parking & wifi worked well. It was convenient for our needs. A welcome stop after 2 weeks travelling from Halifax & having stayed in two (supposedly) upmarket hotels where we were far from satisfied. They could learn from this man!

Room Tip: Don't expect luxury but you will get great service & the rooms are clean. You get more than...

I give it 5-start b/c for what it is it totally exceeded my expectations. It's a small cheap motel, 10 min drive from the very center of Sault Ste Marie - very clean, bathrooms are not outdated, no funny old smells. I stay in cheap motels from time to time and this is one of the best experience for the price we paid. Very very nice owner + clean cozy room with good bathrooms. What else do you need? Totally recommend it.

We booked this motel as it had pretty good reviews on Trip Adviser. The room was small, dark and dated, but clean. It was cheap, and we just needed a place to sleep as we were on a long trip. The host was very friendly and helpful, he checked twice to make sure we had everything we needed!

We stayed overnight here enroute to Red Deer AB from Halifax NS. We were tired from travelling and only needing a place to sleep. The price was OK. The room was clean and dated. There was an old-style TV in the room with cable but I could not connect my laptop to it. It was fine for the purpose - smallish room with queen size bed. It was close to places to eat as well.

My mother and I had a long drive to Sault Ste. Marie from below Montreal, and decided to call it quits at Sault Ste. Marie. Out came my phone and Trip Advisor, and, feeling rather cheap, we booked this motel though bookings.com. We drove past it on the way into town for food, and were worried, as it looked rather shabby and run-down, but decided to give it a go, reasoning that we could cancel if we were that worried. I had also read a negative review that rather worried me. However, check in went smoothly and quickly, and we drove down to our room. Happy day, the motel room was spotless. We checked in late, and basically went straight to bed. Wi-fi worked fine, as did the ac - we put the fan on to drown out traffic noises. Traffic noise wasn't bad, we're just light sleepers and wanted some white noise. Turns out we slept through a massively bad storm. All the same, slept well. Had a nice hot shower in the am, dropped the keys at the front desk, and hit the road before 8. A side note - hot water was a little slow to come through in the evening. We just ran the tub and sink on hot until it came through. Room was very cheap - 81$ taxes in for a room with 2 double beds. Best bang for our buck this entire trip.

Room Tip: Run sink and tub on hot at same time for a couple of minutes if hot water seems not to be coming.

Very clean. Nice furnishings inside. Bathroom is old, but clean.

As a solo, female traveler, I was considered that the lock on one of the back windows was broken. It could not be locked & the window was big enough for someone to crawl through. Also, no additional chain or interior deadbolt on the door.

Manager was okay, not rude, but it did seem as if I was bothering him. As if he had better things to do than help a customer.

Good motel for a one night break when your car trippin' along the trans-canada. Sure, this motel is a bit dated, and the rooms are a bit dark and dingy, but they are really clean, and I believe are great value for money. I couldn`t hear any road noise from inside my room (I was in one of the rooms along the back though) and that is always a bonus for a roadside motel. If your on a bit of a budget, like I was, don't hesitate to book in here.
