“Reasonable stay for the price”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Our room was clean, quiet, and we felt safe. For the price paid, I'm satisfied. The location is strategically well-placed, the staff was friendly enough. The neighborhood was not glitzy at all, but neither is most of Thunder Bay :). The room was a bit smaller than typical would be for the U.S., but it did fit a king size bed.

Room Tip: The whole hotel was relatively quiet. What a treat! I suppose the closer you are to the back of th...

Very clean and friendly staff.....Night clerk was VERY good. He was very accommodating and so nice. Great value for the money. Free breakfast makes this deal even sweeter. We're travelling across Canada and Econo Lodge is now our only choice for the rest of the journey. Pet friendly ;)

Room Tip: Pet friendly room right near the outside door....bonus

We spent tonight here on our way back to the States after a week crossing Canada. Of all the places we have stayed on this trip, it ranks the lowest. That said, it probably is worth the price we paid for the night. Front desk was very helpful and we have a hot breakfast bar in the morning. There's a laundry available on-site and vending machines in the hallway.

Three women and a dog, doing a road trip from Hamilton to the Yukon-we were looking for a reasonable cost. When we plotted out trip, we found the prices going up as we looked to keep our costs at a minimum. We were going to have a further 8 days in Whitehorse. So although we weren't overly impressed with the room, it served our purpose. The staff at the hotel itself, were friendly and helpful. It is nice to find staff who have travelled to the area you are going. Helpful tips. We used the Wifi and didn't have any issues connecting with friends and family along the way. This was day 2 on the road-we missed the jacuzzi that we had had at the Days Inn.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with a smoker and/or a pet, ask for a room closest to the exit, for easy in an...

I stayed at this hotel on a cross country trip from Vancouver to Toronto at the beginning of April this year. I thought that it would be a clean, reasonably priced place since it was part of a well known chain. But I was dead wrong! I arrived around 7:30 in the evening and asked for a single room that allowed pets. I was told that all of their pet rooms are double rooms and even though I requested a single room I had to pay for the extra queen size bed, then I had to pay $20.00 for my dog. It was too late to start looking for another place to stay so I paid the price - it came to around $100.00 which seemed a bit high for what I ended up getting and the time of year I was staying there.

The room smelled bad, like the carpets and/or drapes hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. The hallway smelled like the stuff school janitors used to spread on the floor after a kid had been sick. . . .that's the only thing I could think of. The whole place was tired and worn down and in desperate need of a renovation - or at least a very good cleaning. I would not stay at this particular hotel again and in fact it has put me off of ever staying at another Econo Lodge. Avoid it if at all possible!

Room Tip: Find a different hotel if possible!

There's nothing terribly wrong with this hotel, but there isn't exactly anything to brag about either. Pros: right on the main strip (easy to get to), beds were large and fairly comfortable, room was large enough, it was relatively clean, the wi-fi is pretty good, and the continental breakfast had a pretty good selection of hot and cold items. Cons: a little noisy (walls aren't overly thick plus it's right near the main strip), the hallways are dark and smell a little musty, and overall things aren't that nice. You get exactly what you pay for here. If you're looking for luxury or amazing value, don't stay here. If you're looking for somewhere to stop for a night or two that's fairly cheap and is liveable, this is probably the place for you.

Room Tip: Rooms on the bottom floors are pet rooms, so book one on the upper floor(s) if you have allergies or...
