“wedding certificate for spa”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2014

We received this certificate for a wedding present so we decided to use it on my birthday! We arrived at our junior suite It was nothing special and check the bed it was hard as a piece of plywood! There were hooks missing in the bathroom! Then later that night we went to the outdoor pool and hot tub we were there about 5 minutes then 5 girls in their 20's come out yelling and screaming playing in the snow taking pictures acting like kids! I was not to happy i told my husband I'm not staying here this is too much and there's a sign before you enter says silence please! We get out of the hot tub I go see the reception at the spa I told her this is a real joke we come here to relax and we get girls running and yelling I told I will never recommend nobody coming here to relax because it's a zoo and also they have cameras in that area might as well not have them because they don't even pay attention of wants going out there! So we went back to our room to try to enjoy the rest of the night so we went in the Jacuzzi in our room wow I could believe how loud it was we could not even hear each talking! Very disappointed will not be return there! Also when we checked out I told the receptionist about the pool area she responded to me well you should of kick them out like that is my job seriously some service!

We would like to thank you for taking the time to review our resort on Tripadvisor.com.

We are sorry that your experience at Cedar Meadows Resort & Spa did not meet your expectations. We make is a practice to share all our guests' comments with our employees and management team.

Giving the opportunity, we would have gladly addressed any problems or concerns.

Our Junior Suites are our smaller suites which are very popular with couples looking for a quick getaway. The jacuzzi tub does have jet which do make noise. Then again, what jacuzzi does not make noise? You compare our mattresses to "a piece of plywood". We must admit, this is the first time a guest complains about our mattresses as they are great quality pillow top mattresses which we purchased only a few years ago.

We agree that our Nordic Baths is not a place for yelling and screaming. In fact, silence is an essential part of the relaxation process of our Nordic Baths. We have had to ask people to leave in the past if they did not respect this spa rule and would not have any problem doing so in your case. In the future, we would suggest you advise management as oppose to posting a negative review such as this one. Again, give the chance, we would have gladly taken the time to speak with you and would have addressed the situation.

Wouldn't call this a resort. Family owned, staff are friendly. Breakfast service was slow. Maybe its just me being from a big city i'm used to fast pace.

Room had a weird layout jacuzzi was in the middle of the room, fireplace with a tv......

Room Tip: Upgrade to the corner room, great view of the property

Hello there and thank you for your feedback!

There are different types of resorts. A "resort" is a place that is a popular destination for vacations or recreation, or which is frequented for a particular purpose. The most common type of resort people are more aware of is a resort in a tropical destination. In our case, our resort serves different purposes (wildlife resort, spa, restaurant, business trips, honeymooners, etc).

We apologize if you experienced a bit of a wait for your breakfast. We do try to serve our guests as quickly as possible while providing qualify and efficient service.

We thank you again for your comments and for choosing Cedar Meadows Resort & Spa!

Very cute hotel, a bit removed from the main part of Timmins. Rooms are ok, but clean. Restaurant was excellent, what a pleasant surprise - but it was pricey. Their fresh baked bread was outstanding.

The best part of this hotel is the value. Being from southern Ontario, getting a hotel of this quality for the price I paid (somewhere just north of $100 a night) is unheard of. Amazing value.

I will recommend this hotel to anyone I know who is travelling to Timmins.

We stayed here for three nights; it would have been a shorter stay but there were problems with plane reservations. Everybody told me to rent a car and I was very glad I did. The hotel is out of the way and if you want to shop and go for a meal you would spend a lot of taxis if you didn't have a vehicle with you. Lots of parking although it is in a lot and not right by your room.
We went in the winter and didn't spend a lot of time outside but it is a very pretty setting.
I had read reviews about noise from weddings. There was a wedding on when we were there but we didn't notice any noise at all.
We had some of our meals in the restaurant. It was expensive but very good, not a lot of waiting and well presented. One of our group had room service and was pleased.
The room was much better; I think it had been updated: fridge, flat screen TV, comfortable and enormous bed.
There is a spa on site but we didn't try it out. I wasn't interested in any treatments but the Nordic bath sounded interesting but it was $25 for guests.
Originally we had rooms on the second floor but a couple of us have mobility issues so fortunately it was possible to switch to nicer rooms on the first floor. No elevators.
It wasn't our decision to stay here and we were not paying for it. Not sure if I would stay here if it was my choice, generally prefer to be closer to shopping and restaurants. Still it was a clean and well run place, quiet and out of the way with extensive grounds. If it had not been so cold might have looked into the nature tour.

Room Tip: No elevator, stay on the first room if you don't handle stairs well.

We wanted to thank you for your review! We do appreciate your comments.

Although it seems like we are out of the way, we are never more than 5 to 10 minutes drive from major attractions (like the shopping mall or other restaurants). The nice thing about our resort is we seem as though we are out of the way but only minutes away from everything.

Our restaurant is the only one in Timmins offering unique dishes made with fresh, local ingredients and "a la minute" prepared meals and sauces. Everything is prepared in house by our chef and his team. That being said, our prices are still very comparable with other local restaurants.

We hope you enjoyed your stay and thank you again for your review!

Although the hotel itself could really use and upgrade, the exterio looks lovely and the grounds are beautiful (even on a bleak, rainy day). The staff were mostly friendly, particularly at check out. The restaurant on site is quite good. The gym is a bit cramped but is well equiped and clean. The rooms are a wee bit out of date although it is obvious some upgrades have been done. It is a nice quiet spot for a stay and a short drive from the business section of Timmins. I would stay again.

Hello and thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback.

We have recently updated our rooms and suites. However, we offer "rustic" style rooms and suites as oppose to the modern sleek style you see in newer hotels. The reason being, we are a natural resort and wish to offer a different feel to our rooms and suites.

We look forward to having you return to our resort!

My wife and I have stayed at Cedar Meadows a few times. Very nice scenery and great restaurant.... I was very disappointed on a couple of occasions:

1. We had stayed during renovations of the hotel, which entailed having the carpets removed in the main hallway. This was very loud and dirty and took place in the early morning.

2. We had stayed this past Summer when a wedding was taking place. The wedding pavilion is a stone's throw from the main building where the rooms are located. Music was very loud (you could feel the bass in the room), kids were running and screaming literally 10 feet from our patio door. This persisted until approx 1 am and the "aftermath" of the wedding was still very loud until about 2 am.

This is unacceptable for a "resort". We are a young couple and usually don't mind the "partying", however my wife has been sick and I did not appreciate that she was unable to sleep 2 of our last 3 visits.

Suggestions:

1. Why are these wedding bookings (which I am sure are booked well in advance) not expressed to the guests when they are making a reservation? Also, why are the rooms not reduced in price??

2. Do your construction at say Noon, instead of at 8 or 9. This will ensure most of your guests are awake/checked-out.

3. Relocate your wedding pavilion. The Summer is the most beautiful time at Cedar Meadows with the scenery and animals. This also coincides with Wedding season. Not too sure why you would destroy it.
Although immeasurable, I will guarantee this has resulted in a loss of a large sum of money/return customer base,

4. As a professional business, do you realize that once you lose customers that they will never return? Being respectful, upfront and honest with customers will go a long way in having return clients. I have a hard time seeing young children, elderly, or business people returning to a "resort" where they cannot sleep and relax. We are well traveled people and I have never stayed at a hotel/resort where I cannot sleep from the noise.

"They" say that for every 1 customer that will make a written or verbal complaint, this actually represents 20 customers. FYI on our last stay we ran into a couple at the Timmins airport that had just stayed at Cedar Meadows and they said they would never return. What are the chances of that?

We are truly sorry that your experience at Cedar Meadows Resort & Spa did not meet your expectations.

All hotels/resorts go through renovations at one point or another. Sections of the resort (where the work was being done) were actually closed off (rooms were put out of order) in order to get the work done and not to disturb any of our in-house guests. Unfortunately, in order to get the job done, one must do the work during normal business hours (which is usually 9am-5pm). The company hired to change the carpets last year, did the work in a matter of a day and a half during these hours.

Cedar Meadows Resort & Spa is unique, especially when it comes to weddings. Since weddings are a time to celebrate, some wedding attendees can get a little loud at times and it can be difficult to control. It would be a shame to stop holding weddings completely because of a few loud guests and are not able to do so. When a noise complaint is brought to our attention, or any complaint for that matter, we do everything we can in order to resolve the issue. Most of our guests are aware, especially during wedding season, weddings take place almost every weekend and are advised upon arrival. We do move all "non wedding" guests on the East side of the resort (away from the tent). Depending on the type of room booked and/or the amount of nights a guest is staying, it may not always be possible to move all "non wedding" guests, however, 98% of the time, we are able to accommodate our guests.

We make it a point to keep our guests happy. In result, we have a list of regular returning customers who return at Cedar Meadows Resort & Spa for weddings, meetings, family getaways, or simply for a quick getaway to relax in our spa.

We thank you for your candidness and for your review. We have appreciated your business in the past and hope you will feel comfortable enough to try us again in the near future.

This Hotel/Resort is near the airport so it is some distance away from the downtown core. It does have a bar and restaurant so it has all you require in the one building. The rooms are clean but dated. The food is average but on the expensive side but not overly so. You definitely need a car if you stay here. Downtown is miles away. It is a very quiet hotel
