Owner description: Opened in 1914, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) showcases art, culture, and nature from around the globe and across the ages. One of North America's most renowned cultural institutions, Canada's largest museum is home to a world-class collection of more than six million objects and specimens, featured in 40 gallery and exhibition spaces. As the country’s preeminent field research institute and an international leader in new and original findings in biodiversity, palaeontology, earth sciences, the visual arts, material culture and archaeology, the ROM plays a vital role in advancing our global understanding of the artistic, cultural and natural world. The Renaissance ROM expansion project (2007) merged the iconic architectural heritage of the original building with the Studio Daniel Libeskind-designed Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. A distinctive new symbol of Toronto for the 21st century, the Crystal marked the beginning of a new era for the ROM as the country's premier cultural and social destination.

This is a world-class museum. There is something here for everyone. There are special exhibits. There is a superlative Chinese exhibit, and excellent Egyptian and Greek exhibits. The museum is very well laid out in a historic building, but with a new contemporary exterior that has received mixed reviews. I think it is eye-catching and brings positive attention to the museum. The ROM is a place you must see if you are visiting Toronto. If you live in or around Toronto, you should buy an annual family pass!

The museums ain't free in Canada but this History Museum is as good as any. Go to the A.G.O. if you want "fine art." If you like museums, expect to spend a full day at the R.O.M. Lots of dinos and cultures: ancient Egypt and Greece/Rome and China/Japan(/Korea) and post-Feudal stuff.

Nothing but good stuff to say about the ROM. It could do with a few more benches in the galleries. You can rent strollers for free, again I went there with my 3 year old and my 3 month old. My 3 year old was quite curious and asked a lot of questions. Of course there was stuff he wasn't interested in. We bought the city pass from Costco and the ticket worked out super cheap & kids under 4 are admitted for free.
