Owner description: Opened in 1914, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) showcases art, culture, and nature from around the globe and across the ages. One of North America's most renowned cultural institutions, Canada's largest museum is home to a world-class collection of more than six million objects and specimens, featured in 40 gallery and exhibition spaces. As the country’s preeminent field research institute and an international leader in new and original findings in biodiversity, palaeontology, earth sciences, the visual arts, material culture and archaeology, the ROM plays a vital role in advancing our global understanding of the artistic, cultural and natural world. The Renaissance ROM expansion project (2007) merged the iconic architectural heritage of the original building with the Studio Daniel Libeskind-designed Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. A distinctive new symbol of Toronto for the 21st century, the Crystal marked the beginning of a new era for the ROM as the country's premier cultural and social destination.

This is a beautiful museum right in the middle of town and very near to a subway station. It is a standard Museum of Natural History and Culture, but it has a fantastic early Canada section, which I only wish was larger. It is a lovely place to go and recharge on a busy trip.

Came to the Museum to catch the Mesopotamia exhibition. It was outstanding. I spent almost 3 hours just lingering at the Iraqi artifacts. This time round I did not have time to check out the other floors. The special exhibits here are always well thought out and sensibly displayed. This Museum is not to be missed if you are in Toronto.

My husband and I like different types of museums -- I like cultural/social history and art, he likes natural history and science. At the ROM, we both found what we were looking for and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There is a lot here, but the exhibits are laid out very well. I was extremely impressed by the ROM. It's clearly a world-class museum, with a variety of interesting exhibits that appeal to all audiences.

My two sisters and I walked through this amazing exhibit on Friday night.
Amateur photographers from all over the world entered this contest.
The photographs of animals and the environment were exquisite!
The efforts that some of the photographers went to obtain the perfect photo were amazing.
This is a very worthwhile exhibit to see.

Spent several excellent hours here during a weekend visit to Toronto and had marked the ROM as one of the highlights of the trip. It is very conveniently located off the Toronto subway (Museum stop) and has a extensive display of both historical and natural history items to offer. There was a special hands on family day event for children going on that day and it was fun to see all the little ones excited about science/history. Great display on Canadian history helped enlighten this American and the current special exhibition on Ancient Mesopotamia was a fascinating dive into that most ancient of cultures.
