Toronto High Park makes for a great outdoors destination. There is a small area with animals (llamas, bisons, emus, etc) that will surely delight the younger children and a great play area with a huge wooden castle-complex for kids of different ages. There are tons of pathways for strolling or bike-riding, making it easy to have fun while outside.

Great park in the heart of the city. It is very large and you can easily access it by vehicle or TTC. There is parking and lots of things to do once there, such as bike, hike, tennis, check out the zoo. And it's a great place to see Shakespeare in the park or take photographs.

High Park has always been my favourite nature-in-the-city spots for its hidden animal zoo inside and the beautiful trails along the water. In the zoo a moose even walked up to my hand at the fence to smell me, which grabbed the attention of other visitors with surprise, since most animals in the zoo are so used to the noise and over-population that they stay as far away as possible from the people. I have always been a nature and animal lover but unfortunately at the end of the trip, my fiance had to almost call the ambulance as I had a really serious allergic attack. This was my first time experiencing an allergic attack and the only different thing I have done in this trip was eat at the diner in High Park (home-fries if I recall correctly), so beware, as my allergy tests returned nothing major.

Love the off-leash dog park. High park has trails for dogs, instead a big playground. You can soak yourself in the nature and it is kind of close to the lake.

High Park in the spring has beautiful cherry tree blossoms. They are along the walkways. There are also many nice gardens in the park.
You can visit Colborne Lodge one of Toronto's museums in the park. There is also a small zoo and playgrounds for children.
In the summer the outdoor pool is open and right beside it are tennis courts. In the winter there is an outdoor skating rink.
The park is accessible by subway; streetcar or car. The streetcar is a nice way to see the city on your way to the park. if you are coming from the east on college street.
High Park is a nice place to spend a day while in Toronto.
