“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this lovely hotel. Lot's of dark wood gave the place a charming "old world" feel. Every single person we interacted with who worked here was over and above nice, friendly, and helpful. From the lovely housekeeper who tidied our room (I think her name was Virginia) to the concierge Fabiana who helped us get tickets for "Last Confession" and a dinner reservation to waiters and front desk staff---all were upbeat and professional.

The location of the hotel is very convenient to a number of attractions. Right across the street is the Royal Ontario Museum. If you go, make sure you splurge the $12 extra to see "The Forbidden City" exhibit. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We ate in the restaurant twice for breakfast and it was a little pricey but excellent service and excellent food. There is a Starbucks around the corner if you don't want to have a full breakfast.

We walked to see Casa Loma (a good mile each way) but definitely doable and the Castle/home was very interesting. If you choose to see it make sure you get the complimentary headsets to use.

There are many cafes, bars, high end shopping all around the hotel. This is a nice place to stay while exploring Toronto.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 5th floor on the side that was away from the street.

I have just spent a week at this hotel and would definitely recommend it as it is extremely comfortable and in an excellent position near the Museum and close to shops, restaurants and the underground. The concierge (l had two different people help me & both were utterly delightful)
were extremely helpful with my trip to Niagara (I would suggest take the one without the buffet lunch included but who picks you up from the hotel) and the organising of an appointment locally.
The staff are all charming and the breakfasts good. If l have a criticism it would be that when we arrived in the rain at around 6-7 pm there was no one on the door to help with luggage & we weren't offered help to our room with luggage either and if you want a turn down service you have to ask for it. But other than these small niggles we had a wonderful stay in very comfortable room. They have a lot of regular guest who keep returning which also shows what a popular and convenient hotel this is.

The Intercontinental Yorkville is really conveniently located with the closest subway stop being St. George. It's right across from the ROM and also high end shopping on Bloor Street. About a 30min walk to the heart of 'downtown' Toronto but we found it nice to walk through the different areas, although taxis are easy to find in front of the hotel as well.

The hotel itself is getting a little bit dated and could probably use a facelift but is still very comfortable, the rooms were a nice size as were the bathrooms with a bathtub plus separate shower. The walls are a bit thin and we could sometimes hear conversations in the hallway, although this did not disturb us very much.

The hotel staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful.

Lots of restaurants in the area as well as a Shoppers Drug Mart downstairs and a Tim Hortons around the corner for something quick on the go. We did have room service and it was prompt and the food was very good. There is a Keurig in the room but if you're having tea, it seems to come out with a bit of a coffee taste as I'm sure it gets used primarily for the coffee.

To note: there is no mini bar fridge in the room. Was not a big deal for us, but I could see some people wanting or needing one to store other items.

The Intercontinental Yorkville is incredible! What a beautiful hotel.
Our room decor was exquisite and the bed lush and cozy. And the bathroom! it was amazing with a huge luxurious bath and shower. The staff and service was exceptional. Staying at the Intercontinental was a wonderful experience.
Plus you could not get a better location shopping, museums, restaurants and cafe's!

I stayed here over a long weekend while attending a wedding in Toronto.

The check in process was straightforward and the staff were welcoming.

On arrival in the room everything was clean and stocked - slippers, robes, toiletries.

I called to ask for more hangers and a luggage rack as there were two of us staying in the room but it took 3 phonecalls and 1 hour for these to arrive! I have to say this was the only issue we had, which was small really. They were very apologetic about it and turned out to be a communication issue between departments.

The breakfast was included in the rate and the service in the restaurant was excellent. All the staff were efficient and polite and accommodating. The menu selection for breakfast was very nice with a range of foods both hot and cold - lots of vegetarian options (pancakes, eggs, fruits and so on).

The location seemed nice with plenty of shops around plus right opposite the Museum of Ontario. A restaurant about two blocks along the road "Fresh" is well worth a visit for excellent vegetarian fare.

The room size was very spacey for a city hotel, with large wardrobe space and bathroom.

The only reason I didn't give 5 star rating is due to the age of the building, in need of some updating in terms of furniture.

Decent and clean rooms, bed is comfortable. Bathroom is very dated and is in need of a facelift. Wifi is on the slow side but still able to get work done. Hotel bar has a young staff and not in a good way, very full of them selves. Where this place really left a good impression is room service, food was ok but the service was impeccable.

We selected this hotel for price/value, location and were not disappointed. Very close to St. George station and the university. The room was clean and quiet, comfortable bed and large bathroom. Internet is included, if you are a IHG member. Concierge was outstanding.
