“Comfortable, modern rooms”
Reviewed 3 September 2009

I reserved a room here for out-of-town guests, and subsequently helped them check in and spent a few hours each day visiting with them in their room. Service at the front desk was friendly and efficient. The staff were consistently helpful when asked, and we never felt neglected, but this isn't a place where they scurry to assist with baggage or parking. If you desire or expect that kind of immediate, hands-on service, then there are other hotels in the area that might be more suitable. My request for a quiet room, away from elevators and the seemingly endless condo construction on Bloor Street was respected, and that's what mattered to me.

The room itself was spacious and furnished in a tasteful, modern way - with good quality linens on the bed (and a mohair throw in bold orange for a stylish touch!), contemporary art on the walls, comfortable chairs, and a fairly large marble bathroom.

The location of the hotel is excellent, almost directly across from the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum), a block away from the Gardiner Ceramics Museum, and half a block from two subway lines. The only possible downsides: even on the sixth floor, we could sometimes hear the subway (TTC) trains; I'm not sure if the sound varies with weather or braking speed or what, but we were hearing them only occasionally, and they were faint, like the rumble of distant thunder. Even so, if you're very sensitive to noise, then this might bother you. The other thing I noticed was that the shower (separate from the bath) was on the small side, not so much as to be bothersome for the average person, but it might not be comfortable for some who require more space. Nonetheless, with some very good rates available online (especially for advance purchase), this is one of the best choices in the area.

Above and beyond service at the InterContinental (especially on the parts of John-Paul and David). I'll get to that after I rave on the other features.

- Convenient to Yorkville -- all the restaurants and shops within a 5 min walk.
- Spectacular view of ROM architecture
- Indulgent PILLOW selection. I had 7 pillows of varying firmness, all with very pretty French matellase cotton pillowcases! And a featherbed that had me floating in the heavens.

- Background on the amazing service rating: friends were visiting TO from NYC, and had the misfortune of leaving a passport on the plane. This dawned on said friend on the Sunday morning before departure.

The front desk and the concierge desk were like SHERLOCK and WATSON, calling Pearson, Montreal, Air Canada-- even Canada and US customs!!! All was done with complete professionalism and empathy. Let's face it-- losing the passport is irresponsible but the team there made it a significantly less shameful-- and stressful-- event. They even printed out application forms and helped us secure an appt at the US embassy for the next day.

Today the hotel emailed us confirming that the passport showed up a customs (We had it already), but what a gesture!!

- Also, compared to the Park Hyatt and the Hazelton, the prices for the suite were excellent!

We chose this hotel because of its excellent location on Bloor St. Staggered in from street with heavy bags tired after intercontinental flight; no doorman available to help. Reception staff smiled but did not ask if we required assistance. Not a good start. Upgraded to a smart suite but an incongruous single bed was upturned in the middle of sitting room. Great having two loos and two enormous tellies for those who can't miss it. Quality room very comfortable but as you would expect for the price. Service in the terrace bar outside was charming but a bit hit and miss. We didn't eat there, it looked as anonymous as rest of place but there is a an amazing all day breakfast place called 'Over Easy' two doors down which we recommend for a heart attack breakfast.

This is a good business hotel for those who want quiet luxury and anonymity. It's not an ideal holiday place. Needless to say when we left we staggered out with our own bags again, the smiling door man helpfully holding the doors open while we struggled. I doubt we'll be back.

Everything was great. Service was wonderful, the rooms were sizable and clean, and the location was fantastic. I fell in love with the bathroom and the bed. It was all extremely comfortable! I will say that it was very difficult to find the parking, through no fault of the hotel, there is construction right next door. The bar was great, wonderful bartenders! You must go for a night cap!

We have stayed in many hotels in Toronto, but never the Intercontinental Toronto Yorkville. We were a family group that reserved several rooms for a family weekend celebration. From the onset our stay was perfect. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by the doorman and our check -in was equally effecient and extremely friendly.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. We loved the large bathroom with seperate shower stall. The comfy beds made for a great sleep! We will be re-visiting the Intercontinental Toronto Yorkville very soon. We loved the smaller size of this hotel which lended itself to superb service all around.

We were not sure where to stay in order to be close to where I was having eye surgery. The staff on the phone when I was inquiring about the location etc was pleasant and interested in our requirements. We were very pleased with our room and it was so comfortable. We will be going back to stay again. The nice note welcoming us was appreciated as well.

The location is outstanding as we love to shop and dine at Yonge and Bloor. The service at the hotel was friendly and attentive. Our rooms were clean comfortable and very attractive. Our whole experience was lovely. We will return again next year. This is our 4th trip here as a group, at least. For myself, I rarely stay any where else.
Thank you to Robyn and the front desk staff for going the extra mile, one more time!
