“Fine, but had hoped for more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2012

I stayed here for one night during a week's stay in Toronto. I stayed in a small (very small) room on the fourth floor, with a tiny window looking out onto a wall. The room was fine but, given the price and the fact Hotel Victoria is marketed as a 'boutique' establishment, I was hoping for more. Some of the room finishes looked a little tired and cheap and there was nothing really luxurious about it.

Had a long leisurely brunch with family at The Vistoria Hotel Over Easy restaurant! Good food, large sizes, fresh fruit, fast service and clean bathrooms! The waiter was prompt and polite, refreshed hot coffee several times and smiled often!

As a native Torontonian who has lived in the US for the last decade, I know Toronto very well and choose a hotel in my hometown wisely when I visit. My husband and I booked the Hotel Victoria after seeing the great Trip Advisor reviews. I knew that its location at the foot of Yonge Street and on the subway line would be perfect, and the price was right. I had even stayed at the chic hotel across the street last time. Based on reviews from others, I booked and requested a room far away from Yonge St. and the elevator, and the staff emailed me to say that wasn't possible due to the way the hotel was designed. So, we were located on the top floor (room 802), right beside the elevator facing the street. The room was small, clean and well decorated and had all the basics. However, the devil was in the details, as the building was old and it felt like it. The elevator *was* loud. And maybe it was because we were on the top floor, but the water ran cold for 5 minutes before getting warm, both in the morning and night. The toilet ran so you had to jiggle the handle to make it stop filling. The hot water handle on the sink didnt turn off unless the handle was turned a certain way. There were few electrical outlets in the room. I asked for a wake-up call and it never came, and when I told the clerk in the AM, he made a note but didn't apologize. Since we needed a wakeup call the next day, I later saw the clerk who checked us in and with whom I made the wake-up call and also told him that it never came, and he checked and said that our room had 'blocked' calls, so he fixed it. I guess if I had not mentioned it the second time the same thing would have happened. Apart from that, I was surprised that the toiletries did not appear to be eco-friendly and that there was no recycling container, as Toronto is a champion in being green. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the reviews I read, but my rating was 3.5/5.

Booked at this hotel based on other Trip Advisor recommendations. Our room was larger because of 2 double size beds. Liked having a small refrigerator. Didn't like having to park several blocks away. But the hotel advised this recommendation, otherwise parking would have been sky high. Thanks much to Peter - he is the greatest at the front desk. Their recommendations are great. Bathrooms are small, nowhere to put your stuff. Our windows opened, but were quite dirty.

Room Tip: If you are not accustomed to street noise, you might not like the rooms that are facing Yonge Stree...

Great location with lots of shopping, bars and restaurants nearby. Rooms and bathrooms are clean but small. Air con had 2 settings, on or off and windows were blotted shut. Staff were ok. Great for a short trip to the city.

Good location. Ok for me was the first time in north America, so I don´t know if it is normal to have an apple tv in your room and if you have iPhone there is a iPod dock so you can put your iPhone, both of them surprised me.
Polite staff. The only negative thing is that in front of the hotel there is no space to park and to take off/ put the suitcases from/in your car.

Our room was on the 7th floor and was big enough for the two of us with a great size bathroom. The room was very clean and the bed comfy. The location was great for getting around the city and checking out the sights. The free wireless internet came in handy for planing our days. Our room was right behind the elevator, so a little noisy at times, but nothing major at all, slept like a baby! The over-easy restaurant attached to the hotel was ok for breakfast, would've been better if the hotel included breakfast in the cost of the room. Staff were friendly, we had an enjoyable stay.
