“Nice boutique hotel in the heart of downtown”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

My sister and I stayed here for a girls' weekend in June and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I used to stay here for business a number of years ago before the renovations and think they have done a great job with those renos.

The location is great, being only a few blocks from Union Station, Eaton Centre and has a subway stop less than a block away. We went to see a musical in the theatre district while we were in Toronto and it was well within walking distance.

Now, we had a double queen room and found it large enough for two but I do recall that some of the other rooms are quite small but well appointed.

The staff was helpful and attentive and were nice enough to keep our bags after check out so we could explore before our train was scheduled to leave. (A good thing now that there isn't lockers in Union Station)

A nice, centrally located hotel for a decent rate.

Room Tip: The double rooms are larger and the rooms facing Yonge Street offer a better view.

Dear JaWi1969,

Thank you for visiting us again and being a loyal customer to Hotel Victoria. We are glad you and your sister enjoyed the new ambiance of the hotel post-renovation to host your “Girl’s Weekend”. You are correct! We do have great location being blocks away from Union Station, Eaton Center, and a subway stop just around the block! We are walking distance to all the action downtown. We do have 5 different rooms that work well for different types of travellers and it’s great that the double queen worked well for you. I will pass on the kind words to our hotel front desk staff as compliments on our service are always great! Hopefully this isn’t goodbye for good because we would love to welcome you again in the future. Once again thank you for choosing Hotel Victoria!

Thank you for taking the time to post a lovely review based on your visit to Hotel Victoria! I cannot wait to share your comments to our entire team! I can guarantee they’ll appreciate all the kind words you had to say about your great stay here with us. We are glad our valet parking amenity came in handy for you as it does get quite overwhelming to park here in downtown Toronto. It’s fantastic that the front desk agents were able to help you with all your questions during your stay. We hope you think of us again during your next visit to Toronto. Thank you for choosing Hotel Victoria and we hope to see you soon!

Rachel, the sales coordinator at the hotel, did so much to help me prepare for the trip including planning our trip, finding restaurant recommendations, picking up cupcakes and decorating our room for my husbands surprise birthday weekend in Toronto! Hotel Victoria is an old hotel with modern rooms. Super comfortable bed and nice bathroom. For how centrally located we were surprised by how quiet the room was. We were walking distance to practically everything in the city.
We will stay here every time we come back to Toronto. Highly recommend this hotel!

The Hotel Victoria was a pleasant surprise. When my 15 yr old daughter walked in she said it's the prettiest hotel room she's ever seen! We had a 2 queen bed room, which was quite large and we appreciated the hardwood floors as opposed to carpet... Makes it seem cleaner somehow. The shower had really good water pressure, nice comfortable beds/pillows also. The only thing negative really is the wifi signal. It kept cutting out as mentioned by other reviewers. (Which is my reason for the 4 star rating). The front counter staff was friendly and helpful. The location is excellent as it's in proximity to the Rogers center, CN Tower, Eaton Center, lots of restaurants (btw the Marché) restaurant/market next door is excellent and has something for everyone. So for the price, and if you like boutique type hotels, check this place out!

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper please choose a room in the back, not one facing Yonge street. I forgo...

The Hotel is a good baragin for a few nights in Toronto in ways it gives you what you need, I came to Toronto mostly for touring and seeing a Concert!!!!!
Location: the Hotel is located in downtown Tornoto at Young street , in between Front and King st hence lots of the local attractions are within walking distance: Hockey hall of fame about 5 min, Dundance Sq about 10 min, CN Tower about 15-20 min, the Harboutfront 10 min, Union station/ Air Canada ceter 10 min!!!! if you need the Subway there is a subway station right by the hotel at Young and King
Rooms and amenities: the rooms are specious and comfortable with modern décor , with lots of storage place and with HD TV coffee maker and big comfortable beds, I had a back Facing room , thus quiet !!!! the rooms was always spotless clean, and the wifi was very fast!!! There is no in room safe though!!!!! The hotel has an onsite restaurant mainly for breakfasts, I just walked the street to starbuks in the morning!!!!!
Ive read some reviews regarding the front desk and I have to say they were professional though I would say a smile would have been nicer to get when I went to the front desk!!!!
I can sum up and say money worth is a very good option if you come for a few nights in Toronto , your in a prime location and you get a lavish room for a decent price!!!!
PS there is a good Irish Pub down the street, on the corner of Young and Front

This hotel is very handy for visiting sights, picking up the trolley-bus and with a good choice of nearby restaurants. A lot of sights are easily walkable e.g. CN Tower, waterfront, financial district etc. as is the main station - which was being renovated whilst we were there.

The room we had was quite cramped, however, with narrow single beds, but perfectly adequate for a short stay, with nice black-and-white décor. The central location might make for rooms overlooking the street pretty noisy, but having requested a quiet room we got one towards the back of the hotel which was fine. Air-conditioning was rather noisy, with a booster fan kicking in loudly every few minutes - maybe it needs updating? The exterior of the building, especially front doors, is not terribly enticing and could do with a bit of a face-lift!

We found the staff reasonably helpful when pressed, but when you arrive in a strange city that you don't know to just say when asked 'there are lots of restaurants' and not give specific directions and suggestions is not very useful? We found the immediate Yonge Street area to be only full of fast-food places, and it was only on our second night when directed to the adjacent Wellington Street did we find a good range of cuisines and prices, all of which looked appealing.

Would certainly recommend the Victoria for a couple of nights in Toronto.

Room Tip: Ask for one near the back to avoid street noise

The hotel is in a great location - walking distance to the Eaton Centre, lake, bus terminal and many of the sights around town.

The room was small but adequate. The bed was very comfy and allowed for a good night sleep.

Some staff were helpful and others not as much. That would be the one thing I would say needs working on.
