“Beautiful, trendy hotel.”
Reviewed 29 May 2010

I booked the Hyatt to stay in for my company's holiday party. I booked through Priceline and got an awesome deal for a two-king bed room. Although a little squished, the room was beautiful with lots of earth tones. It came with a flat screen and a glass-walled bathroom. Parking was expensive, at an extra $25 a vehicle. But, I would definitely book here again!

I decided to stay at the Hyatt due to the current Welcome Back promotion. It was my first stay at the hotel and I would say it was dissapointing. I believe the hotel was a conversion and it feels like it was done a little on the cheap. I misplaced a bag with some clothes and called back after checkout. I was told that I had to leave a voicemail with building security and the recorded message said that I could expect a response in 48 to 72 hours. For a full service hotel this in unacceptable. As a Hyatt Platinum I would have hoped someone could have made a simple call to figure out if the bag was in the building or not. On the positive side the rooms look fresh although again some of the items look more fitting of the building's select service past.

If you like to get a good night's rest, avoid this place. For two reasons: the construction of the hotel and the clientele. This hotel seems to cater to a lot of noisy groups (i.e. teenage sports teams) and other younger partiers in their 20s. We switched rooms and floors after the first sleepless night only to have the same constant drunken yelling and hooting and hollering and running around in the hallway the second night. The hotel claims to have a strict 10pm quiet policy, but it's up to you to enforce it. Coupled with this, the rooms let all kinds of noise in. Even when people are talking with ordinary volume in the hall, you can hear everything in your room. The doors close incredibly loudly. We stayed 3 nights and the noisiest were the Friday and Saturday - only on Sunday (maybe when people were on their way home) did we get a decent uninterrupted nights' rest.

The staff were pleasant and friendly and very accommodating. However, I won't be staying here again. The first time in my life, I actually dreaded coming back in the evening to this hotel! We weren't early to bed either, came in around 11pm on average all weekend.

I stayed here this past weekend and had an excellent time. We went to see Mamma Mia and Rock of Ages and this hotel could not be more convenient. There are also a lot of great restaurants and shopping nearby. We also got an extremely good rate by using Priceline but check-in did not go too smoothly. Although I had called ahead and requested two beds I was unlucky to get the clerk who had no interest in helping me with that. On top of that she wanted to charge me $25 for a cot. The previously unavailable room materialized with two beds in the end when my wife pointed out to her that the customers to the left and right of us (including someone who also had a Priceline reservation) had made the same request and got the two beds. The elevator situation is ridciulous with two of the four elevators under renovation and my other complaint would be the noise other guests make at 4am when they returns from the nightclubs, yelling to each other is unnecessary. I got the impression that a lot of people on Saturdays book a room there so they don't need to take a cab home. The hotel is very up to date and the rooms comfortable although drawer space iks limited if you are ther for more than few days.

I was there for the '09 Toronto Film Festival and found the location very convenient -- close to the box office in the park down the street, across from a comedy club, and within yards from a row of great restaurants.

The room had a gorgeous view of the city and beautiful bay windows. It's modern and sleek with good amenities.

I also organized two meetings in the lower dining/conference room and was given excellent and attentive service. I would highly recommend it for a business meeting. The manager anticipated every need from food set up to helping with the A/V. I couldn't have asked for better service.

Completely agree about the elevators. It was the one detractor in an otherwise fantastic stay.

We just stayed the weekend at the Hyatt Regency. the hotel was modern, clean, and the location was great. Located in the entertainment district, lots of great restaurants, walking distance to everything. The bed was very comfy. The only complaint i had was that the cleaning staff only left decaffeinated coffee for the machine in the room and only one package of creamer/sugar. Also, the elevators were out of service at times. This wasn't a huge deal though.

Perfect downtown location with stylish rooms and nice views, but between the fact that only one or two of the four elevators ever work and the pool is never open it is a bit dissapointing. The staff is very friendly, but the food and drink prices are quite high. Oh and did I mention parking is $25 per day...ouch!
