Some girlfriends and I chose the Grand Hotel for a bachelorette weekend. The rooms were a good size for a good rate (approx. $140/night) and we found the staff to be friendly and rooms to be clean. We didn't use the pool, but the hot tubs on the roof were a lot of fun with a great view. Overall a good experience, the only issue we had was that the Grand charges $50 per guest per night over 2 people in a room. We requested 2 beds to a room since there would be 8 of us that would put 4 in a room, hardly a strain on the room, certainly not worth an extra $100/night/room and a queen size bed is built to sleep two right?? so of course we just did the- say we have 2 but actually have 4- thing and it worked out fine. We had to sign a 'No Party Policy' with our ID's copied down and everything. We are all in our late 20s so this seemed a little bit juvenile, but like I said we all had a great time and I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Hotel was great, rooms were good size, staff was helpful. Best part was the hot tub on the roof with the amazing view of the skyline, especially at night. They play movies on the big screen there as well (we were with a mixed age group, wish they could of had something more appropriate playing on the screen). Indoor pool area was clean and very comfortable, plenty of towels, make sure you check out the sauna in the changing rooms, fantastic place to relax.
Breakfast in hotel resurant was plentiful and staffed with attentive servers. Shuttle service was offered to local attractions although you can walk to many good attractions from here as well. We would stay here again without question.

As a group of 10 girls looking to have a great time for an impending wedding, the Grand Hotel was the perfect location. We were pleasantly surprised with how big and open the rooms were. The floor to ceiling windows gave a great view and made the rooms feel so spacious! The small kitchen area was a great addition and the fridge was the biggest I've seen outside of a suite.

The bathroom was nothing too exciting and had the strangest doors I've seen, but did the job. We were pleased that it was such a short walk to dinner. We ate at Fran's diner on Victoria. Would highly recommend it for an affordable dinner with great portions and fruity drinks! We loved it so much we had breakfast the next morning there!

The rooftop hottubs were incredible! We really loved sitting up on the roof while the sun was setting. The large screen playing movies was a fun addition. We also couldn't believe how well kept the tubs were considering they were on a roof. I called my husband right away to tell him where we'd be for our anniversary!

Overall, we had a great stay. I never once opened the front doors on my own - a doorman was always there. The elevators were quick, and the hotel was quiet. Will definitely, 100% stay here again!

The lobby of the Grand Hotel and Suites is truly grand. The front desk staff are polite and efficient. Our suite was an entire one-bedroom apartment with hardwood (or faux?) floors, three flat screen TVs, large living room, small separate dining room, kitchenette, bedroom, windows on two sides overlooking Toronto. Furniture was upscale, especially the bedding. Bathroom was small but nicely decorated. The treat was the restaurant -- Citrus -- which extends off the lobby and bar area. We booked a package that included dinner and breakfast. The dinner was a choice of any appetizer, any entree, and any dessert. The food, its presentation, and the service were equal to four-star restaurants in any city. The bar, although small, was well-stocked, as they even had the grappa that I like, and had it properly chilled. There is no need to go elsewhere in Toronto for dinner if you are staying at the Grand. Breakfast was the typical hotel buffet -- eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes, small pastries, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit salad, coffee and juices, etc. -- perfectly adequate, but nothing special. The indoor pool area on the lower level of the hotel is very elegant -- some might say luxurious. There are hot tubs on the roof but it was too cold and windy for us to consider using them. Parking was an extra $19 Canadian (self-park). Valet parking apparently also is available at a higher charge.

My boyfriend and I booked online for a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary and will definitely be returning! We booked a standard sweet with a dinner package at the on-site Citrus Hotel.

We arrived about 3PM on Saturday and had a smooth check-in; the girl at front desk was incredibly friendly with a big smile!! We were thrilled to have a room on the 18th floor and were even more excited to have a great view to enjoy being so high! Sometimes a room on a top floor means a view of the neighboring buildings walls! Our room was BEAUTIFUL! Hardwood floors, kitchenette area, big & comfy bed; it was perfect! Best of all it was CLEAN!!

After enjoying the rooftop jacuzzi and the huge pool for a bit, we had an INCREDIBLE dinner downstairs. We paid $60 extra on top of our room for the dinner package, but it meant a $150 value 3-course meal for two (not including alcohol, but we had pop.. free refills)! It's a bit of a fancier menu, but everything we had was delicious! I had the Granny Smith Salad, Sirloin Steak, and Chocolate Pate, and my boyfriend had Ontario Quail, Steak, and Apple Neapolitan for desert. The waitresses were quick and attentive but not overly-so.

We actually were so full from dinner and enjoyed our room so much that we changed our plans from going out partying to order some drinks and spend a relaxing evening in the hotel. There's free movie channels to watch, not that that's how we spent our romantic night in!

All rooms include a free breakfast buffet and it was good as well! Eggs, french toast, potatoes, bacon, muffins, etc.

We had a great time and will definitely be back in the future!

My girlfriend and I spent 2 nights at this hotel, and loved it. We were on the 15th floor facing Lake Ontario. It was nice to see the water shimmering in the morning. The full breakfast included in the price of the room, was very good. The hotel had a rooftop jacuzzi with a movie screen. The city lights were magical from there. This hotel also had a salt-water interior pool with a Roman bath-style decor. Our room had a stove-top, microwave and fridge which came in handy when we brought home our food from T&T, an oriental grocery store on Cherry Str. The St.Lawrence market was just down the street and the CN tower and Harbour-front were within easy walking distance. The hotel had a large business centre with printers free of charge.

Having had a terrible time previously, the manager offered an upgrade to the 600$ per night Ambassador suite...sounded great. The room was 2 levels and nicely turned out (ex. the paper reproductions of Monet et al.) but the kids were stuck on the REALLY uncomfortable pull out and you cannot relax sans kids bec. the 2 floor bedroom tv over looks the sitting area...way too loud. NOT recommended for families!

View sucked...faced parking lot and a tennament with a view of the balcony just below full of cigarette butts and tumbled furniture. Go for the even numbered rooms on the south side.

Staff was very helpful I must say. The manager was very quick to follow up numerous emails and the desks staff followed up all calls.

Cleanliness was iffy. The room (as many other contributors have suggested) needs a coat of paint and minor repairs)--I'd be pissed if I actually spent 600 not 129 on this room and had to look at all the little signs of neglect. (As an example, check out all the elevator indicator signs--ones over the doors--every floor had at least one hanging off and some floors had all 4 or 5 hanging off--real lack of attention to detail).

Pool was OK although I had to call for towels and the men's sauna is still not working.

The neighbourhood to the east is dodgy at best (Moss Park, Regent Park and a number of Men's hostels make for an interesting sidewalk clientele...the summer is the worst with many homeless sleeping and hanging out in Moss Park and the Armories. I have volunteered at those hostels a number of times and it's too bad TO doesn't do more for the homeless than stop them from cleaning your window.)

If you stay to the west (CBD and underground PATH within 5 min.s) or south (St. Lawrence Market, Toronto Island and Front St.) or the north (Gay villiage) you'll be fine. Hop on the street car and go further east to Leslieville and the Beaches if you're not comfortable in the immediate area.

Overall I would say for 129$ it was pretty darn good (roof top hot tubs working fine) decent breakfast buffet...but I would never pay 600 for that room or stay there with more than 2 ppl.

The room and dinner package is the way to go.
