“Dirty! Select another hotel .......Dirty”
Reviewed 2 February 2008

The downtown location and access to the subway is fantastic!
Arrived at the Delta. Don't bring a large vehicle (truck or SUV) it won't fit in the car park. However, the Vallet did accomodate us and left our vehicle in the outside area (nice blizzard while we were visiting!).
The staff was all very, very friendly and helpful.
Our room was very small and I think the beds were 3/4 or doubles? We sleep in a kingsize at home.
Most distrubing was the 2 foot smear of blood accross the front of the shower curtain ...... not discovered until the next morning because the curtain was open. GROSS..... Public Health concern anyone?
We were promptly moved to a kingsize suite, whatever.........
The drinking glasses are not removed from the room to be cleaned. I was mindful of the maid cart (no glasses on it?). Individual plastic glasses were not available.
Stayed at other downtown hotels and have had better experiences!

  • Liked — The Staff was friendly!
  • Disliked — The exposure to blood in my room.

Contacted them directly as the property came recommended by a colleague.

We have arrived at 5.10 - our room was NOT READY - no apology or even an attempt to be nice... ABSOLUTE ignorance by front desk staff

We were then given a dirty and dingy room with stained carpet and dingy furniture. I complained but again it was fruitless : (

Apart from the location and an indoor water slide this hotel is very overpriced and is in need of NEW MANAGEMENT

I would definitely stay away from this place even if it was free !

I really don't know where else you'd stay with younger kids in the downtown core. The kids enjoyed the pool and waterslide, even though it was a little crowded. They also enjoyed the "club" while mom and dad met with some friends at the lobby bar for an hour. They got to play with a rabbit. We enjoyed being close to the theatre district, and to Ontario Place and the CN Tower. We got to Toronto by train, and the Delta Chelsea was only a $6 taxi ride from Union Station. The
B2 Bistro for breakfast is a slightly upscale buffet, but the food is quite good and reasonably priced. The Marketplace was very overpriced for a self-serve type restaurant. The room service was also very pricey and not extremely great. We enjoyed the luxurious bedding in the rooms, even though I did find the room a little small. I would definately go back, and made the mistake of staying somewhere else and
totally regretted it. The Delta is comfortable and competatively priced for dowtown Toronto.

  • Liked — nice bedding, close to shopping and theatre, activities in hotel for kids
  • Disliked — pricey food

We booked a one night stay in November. The room was nice. The service was fast and pleasant. The parking facilities were good. After my first stay at this hotel I booked it again for another event a few weeks later. This stay was a good experience and I would tell others to give this hotel a try as well.

Stayed two nights in one of the "unrenovated" rooms (Green elevators, 15th floor). I like the fact that they still have balconeys, although the door almost comes off the tracks when opening and closing. Antiquated heater/AC unit can not be put on "fan only" setting. Room was decent but a bit run down - peeling wallpaper, just dim and old looking, but linens were clean, amenities were complete. TV was small and old, no bar fridge but room service booze and food would have been cheap if I'd ordered it.

Adult pool lounge was not open, and they seem to avoid opening it. I mean, this was the holiday season, when else are you going to open a lounge? Pool had a ring around it; more regular cleaning is in order. Whirlpool was pleasant, but the seats were too high; to get more immersion you had to move to the middle and sit on your knees. Just an older design; I like that it was tile rather than plastic. Well equipped exercise area with lots of windows, and lots of fresh, clean towels looked inviting, but I was too lazy to work out while there.

They B2 Bistro/buffet was okay but nothing special; I'm not a good one to review fancy restaurants because I eat vegan and most places suck in this regard. Another person's scallop dinner looked quite good. Breakfast "marketplace" restaurant was typically overpriced hotel breakfast and the Second Cup coffee was awful; I don't know if the pots need cleaning or what, but it was bitter, but not in the good, roasted too dark way. I went to the bagel spot across Yonge street instead; their coffee was mediocre and bagels were better priced. The bar was reasonable for an afternoon beer.

Location is fantastic for exploring Toronto downtown, and outdoor parking in the neighbouring lots is reasonable for Toronto, although one of our party had their car broken into and, inexplicably, nothing stolen except a phone. My car (a Mercedes, which I would think is a bit more of a target than the Honda Civic mentioned above) was untouched.

One notable plus about the Delta Chelsea was the staff friendliness; everyone from the desk to the Concierge to the housekeeping staff said Hi when you walked by and made you feel more than welcome.

For about a hundred dollars for two per night (some kind of holiday deal) this was very good value; a cleaner pool and better ventilation and I'd say great value.

My 18 year old daughter, Jennifer has cancer and since she couldn't get her own wish to meet Tyra Banks she went after another little girls wish who is presently in remission. Hannah Gray, eight years old, wanted to see "Hannah Montanna" so bad so with the help of a true Angel, Mr. Mike O'Neill, the girls got tickets to go. He even booked us at the Delta Chelsea. Due to the storm we ended up there for two nights. The rooms were excellent and the service and caring staff were amazing. This was truely a weekend all of us will never forget. Thank you Mike and to the caring staff at the Delta Chelsea. Ann Richmond North Bay, Ontario
