With tickets to see Opera Atelier’s Persée performed at the Elgin Theatre on Yonge, just down the street and The Last Confession, staring David Suchet (Hercule Poirot) at the Royal Alex, just a short walk away, the Eaton Chelsea Hotel was a smart choice, not only for easy access to the two theatres in question but also with a Yonge St. subway stop located both north and south of the hotel; thus, our visit to Toronto on the GO train, stopping at Union Station on Front St., allowed for an easy transit connection, and it saved us money on parking that we could transfer into meals. One does not need a car in Toronto. It is one of the easiest cities to navigate by public transit.

The Eaton Chelsea is also quite close to the Eaton Centre for shopping; we walked through, had a meal at Mr. Green Jeans, an old-time favourite that’s been there for an incredible 37 years, but shopping was not on our agenda.

I was surprised to learn that the Eaton Chelsea is Canada's largest hotel with 1,590 contemporary guest rooms and suites for business travellers and tourists. These include the comfortable Chelsea Room and an apartment-style One-Bedroom Suite. Our two-bed was a quite ordinary room on the 12th floor, with free WiFi, a bit small, but nonetheless comfortable and functional. With an upgrade to Club Room, guests enjoy access to the E-Club Lounge on the 25th floor with breakfast and snacks such as evening canapés.

Eaton Chelsea offers spa and fitness opportunities with a range of amenities as well as family-friendly facilities such as “The Family Fun Zone” consisting of an indoor family pool, 130 ft “Corkscrew” waterslide, “Kid Centre” and “Club 33 Teen Lounge,” “Deck 27,” the adult-only heated indoor pool and well-equipped fitness centre, none of which we had time to use.
There is a huge, open-air casual Market Garden for meals and the more up-scale Bb 33 Bistro and Brasserie. Returning late from a play, I noticed that things were swinging in Monarchs Pub with vibrant (loud) live music and hockey playoffs on screens. T Bar is the likely venue for a quiet coffee or pre-dinner cocktail.

Our room faced Yonge Street, and I was amazed from the balcony to witness the construction amidst Ryerson University buildings with the sad thought that two-storey buildings on Yonge are surely doomed. Renovations were underway around the hotel, but our room and hall were quiet, the beds comfortable and sleep easy.

I have stayed in the old Chelsea many times before, but this was my first experience under the new name. The hotel is kid-friendly and quite popular during March break. Something clever about the Chelsea is that Harry Enchin is their Artist in Residence for 2014 with his pieces displayed in both the lobby and the E|CLUB Lounge for guests to enjoy. Now, that’s classy!

I enjoyed a two night stay while attending a business meeting. Though my room was small it was nicely appointed. The breakfasts served at the meeting were wonderful and included delicious baked goods. It was wonderful to be just a stone's throw away from the Eaton's Centre and major downtown highlights. I look forward to visiting again.

We've stayed here many times over the years, this was our first stay since the name change and also our first stay with kids in tow. The Eaton Chelsea is AMAZINGLY kid friendly. From the moment we walked in kids were catered to, from the special kids check-in desk to the kids menu (where kids 6 and eat eat for free), to the special daily events they had going on (we stayed over the March break), to the way housekeeping carefully left my girls stuffed dolls at their designated spots while making the bed. My children (ages 4 and 6 had a great time, and that led to myself and my husband also relaxing and enjoying ourselves).

Package stays for the March break were very reasonably priced, particularly when you factor in the free kids meals and attractions discounts (we picked up discounted tickets for the Ontario Science Centre and Ripleys Aquarium). I've always loved the Chelsea because of it's convenient downtown location (walking distance to many shops and restaurants, close to the subway, etc), discovering just what a family friendly spot it is gives me reason to love it all the more. We will definitely be back.

nice room, but no fridge at the price of the room you would think there would have been one.

location was great. Walking distance to everything.

Parking fees are outragest, 30$ a day, there should be a flat rate for those parking their vehicles the whole time they are there.

Had the most relaxing evening and night on May 2nd, there was absolute quiet in the halls, rooms above and around. Amazing feeling. This rarely ever happens in hotels.

Room Tip: very expensive

Dear Rick d,

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback from your stay. I apologize for any inconveniences caused by our renovations. As in any business, updating and renovating is necessary. We have carefully planned out the renovations to not interfere with or alter the guest experience. It is unfortunate that our efforts failed in this instance. Our current project is almost complete and we are very excited to share this new feature just in time for summer! I hope that we will have an opportunity to welcome you back.

The hotel is brilliant location, clean amd staff are polite and helpful. The only gripe I have is the food via room service.
All came packed in plastic containers and plastic knife and fork... bit like aeroplane food amd quality disgusting for 3* hotel room service. So highly recommend you eat out or order pizza.... no matter how tired you are... otherwise briliant hotel. :/

Dear Carol R,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback from your stay at the Eaton Chelsea Toronto. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment towards the level of quality provided by our in-room dinning service. We have recently re-vamped the entire in-room dinning concept as we have found that increasingly guests are ordering out or bringing food back to their rooms and are less and less taking advantage of traditional room service. We realized the potential we have with combining the convenience offered in our Market Garden and our in-room dinning pick-up or delivery, and now offer dinning your way. With the new program, guest can choose to pick meals up themselves or have it delivered right to your guest room, offering a larger selection of items fitting different budgets. I hope that we will have an opportunity to welcome you back and showcase this new feature.

Sincerely,

Guest Experience Specialist

Great place to stay if you are going to one of the downtown hospitals. The hotel offers hospital patients discounts. Outside noise was evident from higher floors, but to be expected as one is downtown on a hospital route. Our room was not that big ,but adequate for a one night stay. In house food options good.
