This was a great hotel at one time but is now in great need up renovations. The hallways are dismal (carpets are dirty and worn), the wallpaper is way past it's prime.

We were in room 1459

The room décor is very bland. The washroom was renovated years ago but would nee to be redone. The tiles are scratched and appear dirty. The balcony was not very clean - could have been really nice with a minimum of effort.

Wifi was inaccessible most of the time (perhaps because the hotel was full - it was the World Pride weekend).

The cafeteria food was double the cost that one would pay just down the street. We opted for Panera Bread which was better and way cheaper.

The rates were probably increased for this special event but certainly didn't warrant the $$.

The air conditioning in the rooms are turned off at night making the room very stuffy and warm,

The easy chair was so low, it was difficult to get our of it.

On the positive side, there was plenty of hot water, the hair dryer worked very well, the beds were conformable, the location is great.

This could again be one great hotel but it will need some $$ and extra staff training to return to its days of glory of the past.

Firstly, I am giving this hotel three stars instead of four, simply because it seems a little on the older side, and we did not have a mini fridge in our room, which would have been nice during our five-night stay. Went with a friend to see a concert.

Arrived on a weekday afternoon, and noticed how busy the reception area was. However, we were greeted promptly. We pre-purchased our stay on Hotwire and asked the clerk if we could perhaps upgrade to a king-size bed instead of a queen. Unfortunately, we were told that would be extra - which we understood. No harm trying! The clerk (Ricardo, maybe?) was very nice and we requested a room "with a good view".

We received a corner room (which is great because there is an extra window & less noise) on the 22nd floor with a PERFECT view of the CN tower! We had a balcony, which we really enjoyed. Although the door did not work very well, and it was veryyyyy difficult to push it closed or pull it open everyday. Not a big deal.

The décor was dated... it seemed like an older hotel. Bathroom was small. We would definitely stay here again, however, if we can get the same deal that we did before!

The location is perfect. A 5-minute walk to the Eaton centre/subway station and tons of restaurants, places to drink, etc. We did not hear a noise the entire time we were there.

Pool on 27th floor is fabulous...super clean and with a really nice hot tub. Towels provided. Also a gym area, which we did not use. You can also step outside on the deck near the pool and take in the beautiful sunshine & view! Apparently there is a separate kids pool with a slide, but we did not use this, either. Very comfortable beds. Free wifi in the entire hotel. Went down one day, but it was the network's fault - not the hotel. Called down for robes twice, and was offered them promptly!

Only downfall is that room service is not available in the afternoon until 5:00. Sometimes people (like us) get up late and would like to eat before going out for the day. But I think this is probably standard.

A couple of times in the lobby we came across free popcorn and lemonade (not sure why!) but it was nice....maybe for the kids.

The concierge staff were very nice and held our bags for us while we shopped on our last day after we checked out. Always taxis waiting outside the hotel.

We did not avail of the cafeteria-style restaurant in the hotel. However, there was live music in the bar one night and it sounded great!

One thing I love about this hotel - and it is the first time I have encountered this - they have certain elevators done by colour. So because we were on the 22nd floor, we took the blue elevators that only serviced floors 26-16. This was great because it reduced soooo much elevator traffic, as people on the other floors used a different elevator!

Also convenient are the different labeled entrances in the lobby - to Bay street, Yonge, and Elm.

Tip: There is an express check out box located on the concierge desk to drop your hotel keys if you do not want to wait in the HUGE line-up to check out.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the CN tower!

Took a chance and booked this hotel blindly through Priceline. The location was great, we were in walking distance of many attractions, restaurants, and nightlife. The city sightseeing tour bus stop was nearby and it was a great base for exploring downtown. The hotel is dated with tired decor. There was garbage and an empty alcohol bottle by the elevators in our floor for two days--not a lot of attention to detail. The prices are cheaper here than elsewhere in downtown, but if you decide to stay, have reasonable expectations--I was happy to move on to my next destination and stay in a nicer hotel. It is not likely that I will stay here again.

This hotel is not one of my favourites. The rooms are old, carpet seems to celebrate het 50 years birthday Ans the same country for the elevator. Al the noise in the corridor can be heard in the rooms. Internet went out for the entire day and when i notice this to the staff they looked anoyed and their solution was that i called myself the internet provider. When i went down a 12h00 for diner nothing was set up and also here staff looks through you . Lucky around the corners plenty of restaurants. No this is not up to he standards !!!!

Room Tip: Good luck a d cross fingers

Eaton Chelsea was recommended by Travel Agent as being a high standard 4 star hotel, centrally located in downtown Toronto. We had been upgraded to a premium room as part of the package.

However we found it to be a very busy, heavily used, hotel with a Reception that is more akin to a mainline railway station. Our room was a disappointment as the decor was tired, the carpet stained and chipped bath. It was clearly in need of refurbishment.
Had we known beforehand we would have opted for a better more centrally located hotel.
Sadly the worst of the 7 hotels that we stayed in across Canada.

Dear Liz S,

We are very sorry to learn of the disappointing experience you had when staying with us. We apologize that the condition of the room fell short of your expectations. As Canada's largest hotel, our lobby and common areas can be busy during peak times, but we find this is in tune with the fast pace of the downtown core and our central location. We are working towards our next phase of renovations and will use your feedback to identify our areas of biggest opportunity. Thank you for sharing this feedback.

Begin positively: you can walk to virtually anything you might want to see/visit in central city. There are good bars and restaurants within a stroll. The entrance lobby, ground floor, and business conference area on the first or second floor give a good impression. Our room was on the sixteenth floor. Open the door and you're hit by a musty smell. The curtains are grubby; the net curtains dirty. The room is spacious but in need of an overhaul. We had three nights: should we ask for a room change? We talked with others. Their rooms were similar. This is clearly a hotel living on its location and prioritising its business conferences. To a once and forever visitor to Toronto, we wanted something better. But let's get the worst thing over....the lifts kept breaking down. After waiting ten/fifteen minutes for a lift we couldn't squeeze into, we twice walked down sixteen floors, on different days. Along with others, we expressed our concern. Smiles and concern returned from reception, but this is a large hotel and they are dealing with queues of customers. In the fancy grab-a-bite (or whatever it is called) breakfasting area there were suited people on one of our mornings monitoring service and business. This is patently the area where they make their money: overpriced quick food, though of decent quality. Accommodation needs attention. Advice: choose an alternative hotel nearby.

Room Tip: Ask the hotel for advice.

A very busy hotel, probably not helped by 20,000 Lions biting on Toronto the same weekend. A fairly long wait to check in with an annoying robot telling us we were nearly there - not.
Hotel was clean but was noisy at night with people coming in late and shouting down corridors.
Good location for the start of the hop-on hop-off buses and quite close to the station and the CN Tower which was about a 15 min walk away
The pool was good (no kids allowed) although the water was quite cold. Towels and lockers provided free of charge
