“Great downtown location”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

Stayed here for two nights. Prices extremely reasonable for this area. Close to subway and we walked back from the Rogers Center in 20 minutes. The hotel is clean and the rooms are well kept. We attended one of the bars that had a jazz band playing, it was nice to pass some time. Parking was underground and was extra...$22.00/night. For downtown we thought this was acceptable. This hotel is situated within a few walking minutes of the hospitals and major shopping areas. Very central if you are planning a stay in Toronto. Hotel provides a kids/teens area with pool and games, but up on the roof is an adult only pool, sunning area, fitness gym and whirlpool and sauna. A great place to relax after a long day! Have a great stay.....we will definitely be returning.

We booked the hotel way back in March, thank goodness because we got a good deal on the cost of the room, for a long weekend in August! And seeing how absolutely busy the hotel was during our stay, I'm sure we would not have gotten a room if we didn't book so early in advance. I chose this hotel for the location and the value, and it did not disappoint. I was surprised how big it was, 3 different elevators for three separate parts of the hotel. I had friends stay in a different part of the hotel because they had a kitchen suite, mine was just a regular room with my daughter. The rooms are kind of older, but clean and perfect for what we needed. The staff was fine, I did not have much dealings with them, however, the front concierge was always very busy! If your looking for a quieter stay with less people, this is not the place to say. We were in Toronto for a concert, and there was also Caribbana going on which I wasn't prepared for, so lots of people! There were line ups for the elevators at most times. Security was tight, which was good. Made us feel safe. The front entrance before walking into the hotel is nice too. Very bright and, again, safe feeling. I like that, being from a small town. The location was great as well. Shopping and stores and restaurants within walking distance everywhere. If I ever go back to Toronto, I would stay there again. However, it's not as close to Roger's Centre as I thought when I looked on google maps! I thought it was within walking distance...and we did walk there, but it took us a long time and we had one heck of a time getting back! No cabs, we waited about 45 minutes before they told us they just couldn't come at all! So then decided to try to find the subway. We walked for an hour before we found that, it was all very confusing. It would be nice if there were better transportation plans for after a huge concert when thousands of people are trying to get home.

It is located rIght in the heart of downtown, five minutes from the Eaton Centre, and right on Yonge street and next to Dundas. The lobby is clean and beautiful and so are the restaurants and the outdoor eating area. There are always people checking in and out, and it's busy. Despite that, I found the staff eager and willing to help with any questions. I didn't find the wait for the elevators bad at all. I love the idea of colour coding them. The food at the pub and the self-serve cafeteria was fantastic, though the later was a little pricey. Fortunately, you are in walking distance of other restaurants, as well as many types of businesses and shops. I adored the pool on the 27th floor. The room was clean and perfect for our needs and the cleaning staff were very nice. I would recommend it highly and plan to stay there on my next trip to the city.

Stayed for three nights in this hotel. Good location and friendly staff. The T-Bar in the lobby is great for a quiet drink and has a very pleasant atmosphere. Not so the other bar the Monarch, which lacks atmosphere and is really dated.
The Market Garden restaurant is to be avoided as it was the worst meals we have ever experienced. Greasy fries, undercooked burger.
My wife was unable to eat the chicken or the rice. However the breakfast restaurant BB33 was the total opposite, a great selection of fresh fruit, cereals etc. bacon, sausage and eggs were cooked perfectly. Good food but expensive.
The location of this hotel is excellent and the prices reflect this.
Would recommend it for a short stay but eat elsewhere.

Dear MarcDun,

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to learn that you and your wife had an overall enjoyable stay with us. I apologize that the food and beverage you experience in the Market Garden did not meet your expectations. Your feedback will be shared with our Food and Beverage management team for review as this is not the level of quality we are aiming to provide. I am pleased that you did have a chance to experience the BB33 breakfast which was much more enjoyable for you. We look forward to welcoming you back.

We needed to stay in Downtown Toronto and we were able to get a good rate at the Chelsea. You are placed in a good spot to access many things by foot from here, not to mention easy access to transit.

This is a huge Hotel, and very busy. The lobby is usually a zoo and the wait for an elevator can sometimes be an annoyance, however our floor was quiet overall considering how many people must have been staying.

Our room was very basic; we had a "Chelsea" room which is a no frills type option that suited us fine. Having a balcony was a nice feature and we had a decent view from ours. The room was quite small overall however, although we made it work. The beds were very comfortable, we had a nice TV and the desk was put to good use.

Items that could use improvement included the bathroom which showed a lot of wear; in addition it was difficult to keep the water off the floor during a shower. There was also no exhaust fan and it takes a long time to clear the steam.

We did have a chance to use one of the restaurants in the hotel (for breakfast); we enjoyed the meal but the price was a bit higher than we would normally pay for what we got. We chose to eat elsewhere for all our other meals.

I wanted to end on a positive note. The housekeeping Staff were fantastic on our floor. Very friendly and good at their jobs; our room was kept tidy and clean each day. Good work!

We really liked this hotel and would stay here again for sure! It's in a GREAT location and we booked through Expedia and got a great deal. The only negative is the $29 a night for parking but that is to be expected in a city like this.

I read a lot of reviews and saw people complaining how the hotel and the lobby was a zoo but we didn't really feel that way. There were always people around but we didn't feel it was crazy at all. It's a HUGE hotel and it's expected to be busy at times. There were lots of options for food and snacks, in the hotel and around the place.

The kids really liked the pool and the water slide but be advised that the lifeguards give your kids a "swimming test" before they let them go down the slide. The test is that they have to swim across the pool and back. We used the pool twice and one of the times had a hard time finding seats but it is what it is. I wish that the age for the arcade and teen lounge was a little lower. Every time we walked past it was empty and our 10 yr old would have really enjoyed it. Or maybe they could offer certain times at a younger age and other times for the older teens.

We had no issues checking-in, in fact we were able to check-in two hours early. Our room was on the smaller side in that there wasn't much space between the beds and the wall, etc...but there was a desk and chair and another chair for sitting. We had Room 1612.

There's also a great view of the city from the observation deck on the 27th floor - be sure not to miss it! You have to go through the adult pool area and workout area and the door to outside isn't easy to see but just go past the pool and past some of the machines and you'll see it on your right. Great views!

There was free wi-fi but you pretty much only got it in your room. It was very spotty or not at all in the lobby. They told me that upon check-in.

We will stay here again when coming to Toronto for sure!

We had a great stay at this hotel. It's definitely big--largest hotel in Canada-- and the lobby is busy with people coming and going. Great location, too--you're right in the middle of everything. Our room had an amazing (small balcony) view of Toronto--room 2409. It was a small room, but very clean and perfect for our needs. We didn't have any noise issues. We booked through the hotel and got a great deal.... better deal than the other discount sites--so be sure to check on that. Also, be sure to join their 1865 Club before going for quicker check-in service and other perks.

Front desk and concierge were extremely helpful/friendly.

Don't miss the amazing view from the seating area on the top floor just off of the adult pool. Kid pool was more crowded and a little smaller than expected, but still looked fun. Teen area seemed like a fun hangout, but all games there cost $$.

Food: We enjoyed breakfasts at a great bakery across the street--Lucullus-that you'll see if you head out the Elm St. exit. They have salads, breakfast sandwiches, too, and their prices seemed much better than the hotel. Great Italian/pizza place is connected to YWCA and near SickKids Hospital...don't remember the name--a short walk from hotel--picnic table seating outside and is good, casual place to go.

You might enjoy the double decker bus tour. It was pricey ($40 pp), but a great way to see all of the city and hear about it's history. The guides were fun and entertaining. It included a boat tour around the island in the price. They also offer discounted tix to other sites around town. You can get on and off at any stop you like and reboard when you're ready. Tickets were good for 2-3 days. Beats paying for parking everywhere you go.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor facing the harbor--quiet. Go to Lucullus for breakfast (out Elm St. entrance).
