To leave Toronto by ferry heading towards Toronto Island is an adventure itself, but when you look back at Toronto, with its gleaming mirror forest of eclectic architecture set against an azure blue sky you realise the wonder contradictions that is Canada and especially Toronto, and Toronto Island.
The Island is a beautiful lake bound pocket of land that was a perfect day for us. We ate ice creams , hired one of the bikes and sunbathed on one of the many small beaches that face into the lake. I did dabble my toes in the water and boy , it was freezing so no chance of a dip, but it was achingly beautiful. There is evidence of 1960's type concrete areas which hopefully the Toronto council will remove as its quite ugly in this place of beauty. Though sad to leave after a wonderful restful day on the Island, that ferry trip but to Toronto, and the view again, more than made up for it. So when in Toronto you must visit the Island. Ps Rumour has it that one of the beaches has a clothing optionally mandate, hmmm missed that one.
