During the day at least this to me was simply a lot shopping strip which is duplicated in many cities of the world.
yes, I was informed that at night the place really comes to life but cannot understand why

Certainly it occupied some of our free time walking up and down the street but all we saw were ordinary shops

Take a leisurely walk, up or down Yonge, which is the longest Street in some record book! It is marked clearly on the sidewalk with the history! Well done! Take a pic.! Stop in the Eaton's Centre, looked for the historic buildings! Fronts maybe changed but the upper levels hold lots of history. Busy, travel light! Check out the small shops, galleries, something for everyone! A must do when in Toronto, even a short section.

This street is the heart and life and soul of Toronto. Bright lights big city. Lots going on, noise and hustle and bustle. Vibrant and alive.

This is somewhat like the Times Square on NY. A lot smaller and less crowded which made is easier to walk and shop with kids. The Eaton Center (mall) is here also. The Bay (kinds like Macy's is here too), plenty of theaters and places to eat along the way. You can't get bored and will find something for everyone here.

I wish my family was with me. Lots of shops and big screens. Diversity of people, restaurants and stores.
Free concert was going on. Big clean and definitely a worth visit for the sensory overload.
The best part of Toronto on my recent visit.
