I have wanted to go and see Toronto Zoo for ages and we recently had visitors from abroad so the perfect reason to go. I had high hopes for the zoo as it has such a great reputation but myself felt like its undeserved. There is an enormous amount of walking and you don't mind when there are a lot of attractions but this was not the case. Quite a lot of attractions were closed/empty and the restaurants/food places were also closed. Generally the place looked very worn out with flaking paint etc which does not leave a good impression overall. The polar bear in the smaller pen showed signs of mental illness and would walk in a circle then do a forward roll. The first time i saw this I was amused like the rest of the crown but when this happened for the 20th time it was difficult to watch. The Polar bear on the other side in the bigger pen was just sitting on a fake rock and not moving. I have been to other zoos that are a lot more happening than this one with much less walking. The majesty of the animals is let down with the sub par surroundings and poor set up. A lot of building work is taking place and I hope it much improves the place.

The section where you walk down the mountain to the Canada exhibits simply isn't worth the trek down there and back. Its exhausting!! The signs leave a lot to be desired. Its terrible when your exhausted with kids walking into a dead end!! The zoo is just not set up well.

The food was terrible and the prices were just stupid. Outside at pizza pizza the XL pepperoni walk in special is 9.99. The same pizza with a couple of drinks is $34.99. I prize value for money highly and this is simply disgusting. The actual quality of the food that we had was below average. I simply could not recommend this attraction overall. I hope that it does improve in the summer but I won't be going back.

The zoo is huge! (be prepared to walk a lot)
There is a wilde variety of animals.
The place is clean and well organized, very good to spend hours with kids or friends who are interested in zoos.

“Excellent Zoo - Enjoyable Tram Ride As Well”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

The Toronto Zoo is a world class zoo. We enjoyed visiting it and seeing the animals. We enjoyed in particular seeing the panda bears. The tram ride around the zoo was great and we saw a lot of animals on it; in fact we enjoyed it so much we did it twice (i.e. the second time getting off at the areas where we wanted to see closure views of the many animals at this very good zoo.

“Excellent zoo, long walking layout”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

We loved our trip to the zoo. We went to the panda experience first and were really glad we were there on a school day and not in the summer. They are prepared for hugely long lines! We happily walked right in. The exhibits along the way were very informative and you get to be really close to the pandas.

This zoo has an Australian exhibit, which I'd never seen before, so it was fun to see wallaby's and wombats and a komodo dragon!

Off season there are very few dining and drinks options, so be sure to pack a lunch.

“if you have seen pandas elsewhere before, you will be disappointed with the Toronto Zoo pandas”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

We have been to the soon many times. The Toronto Zoo have lots oc animals including giraffe and tiger. But most of us know the elephants are no longer here. The Buffalo Zoo is a small park in comparison and would be less exhausting to go through. Neither of them is a fun place to visit during winter especially if you don't like the cold.

This recent trip to the Toronto zoo was just to see the pandas. It was quite a disappointment. You had to go through all the educational display about pandas before you get to meet the two small panadas, one indoor and the other outside. I had seen pandas in Hong Kong at the Ocean Park before and the big pandas in HK were much more impressive. The zoo over all is still a great place to go on a nice day with your children.
