I read many reviews about this hotel before booking it. I was hesitant because so many complained about how small the rooms were. I don't know what the problem is with people. So, the room was a little smaller, so what?! There were two of us in the room and we had no problem whatsoever. There was plenty of room. The hotel is nice, clean, and very convenient to nearby restaurants, clubs, subway, and attractions. The front desk staff was very friendly. Parking was conveniently located onsite. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The only negative thing I can say about the room is...the A/C vent is high up on the wall and blows right out on you (in your face) while in bed. The pool was nice. There was even a sauna in the pool area which was unexpected. The price was also very affordable for the location.

Loved that this hotel was centrally located. Too bad they don't offer a continental breakfast for the amount charged. Pillows were amazing. Room was very clean. Not the most comfortable mattress, but still a good night sleep. Don't expect to be able to use wi-fi. While it is free, it is slow and the connection always stops. But, I didn't get away for the weekend to be able to use internet, so that didn't matter too much.

Thank you jgbaia for your review. We're glad to hear you enjoyed our downtown location.

We recently replaced all of the pillows in the hotel, and donated the old pillows to a local charity. We're happy you noticed the change.

Thank you for staying with us.

When you first walk in you are pleased with the clean and modern lobby then after a quick check in you stand in line for the only set of slow elevators. When the elevators open and you head to your room you better hope you don't come across someone in the hall because there isn't enough room to pass in the narrow hall ways. Finally you make it to your room. Your tiny tiny tiny room. It's so small the tv is on the desk the bathroom is so small you have to do your hair behind the toilet to see yourself in the mirror. It also seemed like this was the major hotel for all flight staff. So even if your sitting in your tiny room having a conversation you'll get a knock at the door to keep it down because someone has to catch their flight in a couple hours. We will never return to this hotel.

We stayed two nights at the Holiday Inn at 30 Carlton Street, Toronto, Ontario. The employees were polite and welcoming. I even spoke to a maid in the hall, and she was very friendly.

Unfortunately, the first night’s stay was horrendous. We finally arrived at the room (room 329), and all we could smell was either cat pee or mould. The smell almost made me sick. The bathroom seemed fine. The bathroom door that slid from side to side was unhinged on the bottom.

The air conditioner was not on, or working properly. The way the vent was positioned meant that the air would basically travel right to the floor, not fill the room. As a result, my father became quite cold in his bed (in summer) because the downward blast of the air was somewhat concentrated on him. My mother and I, in the next bed, were sweltering.

There were stains and marks on the wall, stains on the top blanket of one of the beds. I didn’t even want to think that there were probably bed bugs. The hotel was completely booked that night, so nothing could be done. Luckily we were able to switch rooms for the following night, due to the prompt service of one of the front desk agents. She also gave us free breakfast vouchers.

I noticed that the hallways also had a strange smell. I am not sure that the ventilation system is working properly.

I assume that the Holiday Inn makes enough money so that problems such as these can be fixed. I would suggest a proper task of checking the ventilation system of the entire building. Room 329 needs to be closed for a complete overhaul of repair. I would venture to say that I will not stay at any Holiday Inn again, unless there are VAST improvements.

Stayed her on August 21, 2014 with three teenage kids. We had a double bed room but the room was ridiculously small, we were bumping into each other. Check in staff were very good. For the price you can get a much bigger room else where in the downtown Toronto core.
