I absolutely am a huge fan of the Germain. Have stayed at the Maple Leaf Square and Mercer street locations and have enjoyed my stay always. Until tonight. I arrived and was promptly checked into a room on the west side of the hotel. No reference was made to the road construction that was underway and really didn't start going until 2am. I am furious at this lack of disclosure! I don't know why any decent hotelier would put anyone along that side of the hotel. After much displeasure discussed and demand for answers as to why they would put guests in rooms facing the roadside I finally was offered an inside facing room. So pack up and move I did at 2 am!

Bottom line if you want to stay at the maple leaf make sure you are assured a room in facing and away from the streets. Better yet stay somewhere else until road construction is done. Mercer street location is an option but further from the financial district.

Room Tip: Inside and away from roads

Dear John S,

I am very sorry that you didn’t get a good night’s rest last time you were with us. When construction projects are planned, we typically receive some advanced warning; however, with the special exception made for the utility work performed outside the hotel that night, there was unfortunately no warning given to our team.

Rest assured that our main concern will always be our guests: we truly want each and every person who stays here to be happy.

John S, our team appreciates loyal guests like yourself, and we would love to see you back at our hotel. While being in the heart of Toronto’s newest neighbourhood can pose its challenges, it’s also exciting, dynamic and interesting.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly next time you have the opportunity to stay downtown, and I will do everything I can to ensure that you have a superb night.

Thanks again for choosing to stay with us.

I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and was happy to be able to take advantage of their Tripadvisor upgrade option. The room they gave us was spacious and glamorous. The location, for me, leaves a lot to be desired. Right behind the never-ending construction of Union Station and with really no where to go to on foot, this is a space that is only suited to people using the Air Canada centre or other nearby big venues. My complaint is more against Toronto's lack of urban planning than the hotel. The staff, etc, were great.

Dear wrightone,

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback. I am delighted that you enjoyed the service that our team provides, it means a lot to us to know it’s appreciated.

Our neighbourhood is still quite new, and its personality develops more and more each week. Nevertheless, lesser-known venues like the Harbourfront Centre, Sugar Beach, Steam Whistle Brewery, Sony Centre and St. Lawrence Market are all less than 15 minutes by foot. Our resourceful concierges can point you in the right direction. They’re experts at fun in Toronto.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Upscale and modern hotel that is located right next door to the arena, train station, large grocery store and a small walk away from downtown Toronto.
Staff were attentive and the free continental breakfast was excellent.

Stayed five nights with family. Great hotel with very friendly team and good rooms, close to some good family attractions (aquarium etc).

Breakfast and gym got a bit crowded at times, but that was never any big problems.

Recommended!

Spent a night last weekend at the Le Germain to celebrate a birthday. Great place! Located right next to the Air Canada Centre, the hotel is close to everything downtown including the waterfront which is only a couple blocks south. Modern hotel with large rooms and cool bathrooms. Comfortable bed and linens. Very clean. Excellent staff. The room had a window that stretched the length of the room which gave us a great view of the city. A deluxe continental breakfast is included and it was more than adequate to start our day. It included cheeses, meats, fruit, pastries, yougurts, bagels etc. All high quality foods. Great coffee. I used the exercise room. Only two treadmills - although it wasn't a problem since I got there early. This is a boutique hotel so don't expect a big lobby to hang around in. There is a lounge in the second floor that is open 24 hours with an excellent latte machine and lots of reading material. Very nice idea. We will absolutely return in the future.

Dear The Oakvillian,

I’m glad you enjoyed the birthday celebration. We love to help make special events… well… special!

If ever you’re back on a beautiful day, we can also point you in the direction of the Martin Goodman Trail and/or Leslie St Spit. Not only are they great walking/running routes, they also provide some of the most extraordinary views of Toronto.

As for the MVP Zone on the second floor of the hotel, it’s great that you make great use of it. That’s exactly why it’s there, so it’s part of the full Germain experience.

We look forward to seeing you again.

Cheers,

Murray Henderson
