Like most Ontarians I spend quite a bit of time in Toronto and quite frankly don't really consider it a "getaway" destination. I think this past weekend has changed that! Things started on the right note when I got a personal email the week before arriving from guest relations' Andrea V. She promptly made spa reservations for myself and made some excellent restaurant/night club recommendations, and offered help in booking. The recommendations were fantastic, the spa was world-class and we ended up having a weekend that truly felt like we were on vacation. The location of the hotel is great--easy access to Toronto Island airport and subway--and a nice walk to the Distillery District. The hotel itself was lovely--beautifully appointed, comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms. We will definitely be back.

Nice to have another luxury hotel option in Toronto. The hotel is very elegant and great location if you want to be near the entertainment district. The spa is lovely and comfortable, a welcome alternative to Stillwater (which is in need of refurbishing). My room was luxurious and beautifully designed, and the bathroom was huge and gorgeous. The staff was clearly trying to be very helpful. When I really analyze it, the hotel is quite perfect, but something feels missing...maybe it's the artwork or the textiles the designers chose...yes, it's beautiful & tasteful, but maybe a little too SAFE. If you're looking to be "wowed" - you might be let down, in that it's a little boring for the cost of the room...but if you're only looking for comfortable 5 star stay - it's definately perfect.

I am a local and bring my family to the RC at least once a year. We love getting out and we act like tourists. It give me and the family a chance to relax and enjoy ourselves even though we live 15 min away! GREAT view and the rooms are very clean and sanitary. The only drawback is the pricing. There are many other hotels in Toronto that offer the same but are cheaper....some(VERY FEW) are even better:)

Very nice space. I enjoyed all of the public space. The room was wonderful and the bathroom was really nice. I could not get the room cool enough to sleep. I could not open a window. The whole point of a hotel stay (sleep) was never achieved.

Wonderful experience. My husband and I had a "staycation" in a club-level corner suite and felt like royalty. Loved every minute.

My company recently switched corporate hotels downtown to the Ritz, and thank heavens they did. I'd given up on staying downtown when I was in town, because the quality of the hotel stock wasn't worth the commute out to the corporate office north of the city, but the Ritz-Carlton has changed my mind.

The best comparison in town is probably to the Four Seasons, another corporate-approved hotel. The Ritz is miles better than the Four Seasons, for the same price. While the restaurants and lobby at the Four Seasons look nice, the rooms at the Four Seasons are nothing special (unless you take a penthouse, I guess); it's an older hotel and the room furnishings aren't much different than at any other chain hotel (Westin, Hilton) you've visited. Also, the service at the Four Seasons is middle-of-the-road. The only plus is its location in Yorkville.

The Ritz is a brand-new hotel, with beautiful facilities both on the public floors AND in the rooms. My room looked directly at the CN Tower, so no complaints about the view from the expansive windows. The furnishings are luxurious, even in the regular rooms, and all the details have been taken care of, down to the TV embedded in the bathroom mirror. The service is also top-notch -- personal e-mails from an actual human being at the hotel (not something automated) beforehand, asking what services you'll need; people meeting you at the door and walking you to the desk; speedy room service; the valets always ready with a bottle of water on departure. This is what I expect from a luxury hotel -- but I hadn't experienced it yet in Toronto.

I'm definitely spoiled now -- no more suburban Westin Prince for me. I'll brave the traffic to stay at the Ritz.
