“Simply the best French food; beware the foibles.”
Reviewed 26 January 2014

We have been here a couple of times and the food is just outstanding.

However, do not try and book a table by phone it will never happen. Your best chance is to book online.
Do request a sit down table, otherwise you will be propped up on bar stools.
Don't be put off by the slightly pugilistic front desk.

The lobster bisque is to die for and you will forgive all the other minor imperfections this place has.

The croquettes appetizer is worth going for, as are the scallops. (See full menu here:- http://www.jpco.ca/index.html)

For those of us who like to share/taste everything this restaurant particularly lends itself to that. There are two sizes of plate for most of the dishes.

The Sancerre and the Bordeaux (Haut Medoc) on the wine list are both excellent.

Waitress service is very friendly and swift.

Enjoy!

“Small Intimate French Bistro”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

My wife and I dined at the ICI Bistro and ordered the four-course prix fixe menu on New Year's Eve. There were a number of alternatives for each course, that made the decision-making challenging. Each dish was complex, interesting and delicious. The wine list is excellent and we enjoyed the champagne served with dessert. The server was very knowledgeable, explaining the various choices on the menu expertly and making recommendations. The chef took the time to thank us and wish us well at the end of the meal.

“Intimate space”
Reviewed 13 October 2013 via mobile

I have been twice to Ici Bistro. The problem when the first time is so exceptional, one is bound to be disappointed the second time. We were. The service on our second visit dropped from a 10 out of 10, to a five out of ten. The food didn't disappoint. It was excellent.
Unfortunately he waitress didn't seem to have a command of the room.
We'll definitely return and hope the service offering was like the first time. The first visit we had a waitress from France (I don't recall her name), but she was really sharp

“Come for the soufflé....stay for the evening.”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

Chef J P Challet and his team offers wonderful classic french cuisine. The food was very good, the service outstanding and the ambience very comfortable and relaxed.

We were fortunate to have the chef's table which is a table with two bar-stool styled chairs in front of the kitchen. This table is good if you like to converse with the chef while he is cooking/supervising or if you like to see the kitchen team preparing your food. Privacy for us was not an issue as the chef and his team did a great job of ignoring us when we did not want to be disturbed.

We ordered maritime oysters to start and our entrees were the foie gras, the scallops with crab meat and lobster tail and the braised beef. Each entree comes in two sizes; a smaller one for sharing multiple dishes and a larger one as an individual meal. We opted to share several dishes. While everything was fantastic the highlight for us was the foie gras and the scallops.

For dessert we had the incredibly light and delicious grand marnier soufflé. Probably one of the best dessert I have ever eaten; could have had a few more!

Our meal was served to us over 90 minutes with each dish presented individually so we had a very leisurely meal which is what we wanted.

I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning soon.
