Owner description: New York has Macy's, London has Harrods, Chicago has Marshall Fields, and Toronto has Honest Ed's. "It is quite an attraction - honest," proclaims The Great Toronto Getaway, Buffalo, USA. Built in 1948, Honest Ed's is a landmark store in the heart of Toronto. The sign is lit up using 23,000 light bulbs and the store, although modest, consists of two buildings connected by a sidewalk along Bathurst Street.

I love this place!

You can get some great items especially Toronto and Canadian branded souvenirs at very reasonable prices.

Honest Ed's also has an inspirational story behind it.

Recently visited Honest Ed's after reading about it in a Toronto tourism brochure. The outside of the building is really the attraction here. Very eye-catching, old school and fun to look at it, its worth the visit in itself. Upon entering inside you're met with a lot of handwritten sale signs advertising products. These are apparently famous and iconic (huge lineups to buy the signs recently made news headlines). I'd seen them in similar style in multiple places before though and was left scratching my head at the whole thing.

A lot of bargains (and junk) to be had if you're into discount stores. Given the location and prices it also seemed to attract a lot of homeless types as well. Glad I visited before it closes in 2016 but don't feel the need to return.

a landmark in the city for many years hearing rumors it may close so we wen there in May to have a look around in case it was the last time. Just like I had remembered it from so long ago. It not like the other store truly unique and a style of its own. as for other people who did not like what did you expect???? its honest Ed's after all been this way for ever.

Visited this place in Oct 2014, was on our "to do list". We had to get a subway from hotel then a short walk up to it. They say 1-2hrs recommended time for visit but we were in and out in half an hr or so. Sold a lot of junk. Quite run dine and wasn't anywhere near as good as we had hoped. Hubby was happy to find an nhl pez and I was happy to see there was a dollorama just across the street which I enjoyed much much more! We did go in day time though so missed the lights but was definite not worth going back again to see them

MUST SEE. This truly is a long standing Toronto landmark.
The outside is exciting at night and do go inside to see ALL the stuff for sale.As a tourist you can get Toronto and Canada souvenirs - even various types and sizes of maple syrup!
