My husband and I booked a Deluxe room for our wedding night and were told upon confirmation that we were being upgraded to a Luxury. Then at check-in, we were upgraded to a Premier room. On our last night, we arrived after a late evening out to find a bucket of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for us with a sweet note of congratulations. I've stayed at many hotels with great service, but I've never felt so taken care of. The SoHo Met made sure to make our memorable weekend even more special.

Regarding the details, the room was clean, quiet, and spacious. The view wasn't great (we were looking down onto Wayne Gretzky's sports bar), but at least we weren't facing a wall or anything horrible. The brunch offering at Senses didn't look appetizing, but the hotel is kitty corner to Cora's, which has a huge variety of healthy, hearty brunch dishes (prepare to line up on weekends). And it's worth noting that we saw two stars (one actor and one director) there, and everyone we encountered in the hallways and elevators were friendly and well-dressed. The SoHo clientele seem to be quite a classy bunch.

And finally, its location is superb. Within walking distance of most tourist destinations and a short cab/transit ride to other Toronto hot spots.

The Soho Metropolitan has everything I need from a hotel when I'm on a business trip. The location is great, right in the entertainment district, near the hip Queen West neighborhood but near also to the financial district and the Rogers Center. I had a regular room which was very well equipped with a nice, spacious bathroom with a tub, plenty of storage, nice big TV, reliable fast complimentary wi-fi etc. A good breakfast is available downstairs (although it is 24 dollars extra) and there's Senses restaurant which serves good quality high end food and also has a very nice bar. There is a fitness room too which, though small, does the job. Service is very friendly and efficient. All in all, no complaints at all.

My partner and I were very excited to book a night's stay at the Soho. Every review we had read ensured a restful night in a swanky hotel. When we checked in on the Saturday of the July long weekend and saw our room (read: shoe closet) we were disappointed in every penny we spent. We regularly stay at other hotels in the city and while it may not be fair to compare the hotel to those with 5 star status, the service at the Soho was a joke! Our room was located directly across from the elevators on the 4floor and all night it sounded as though people were in our room! The Paper thin walls/door offered nothing by way of insulation and with the proximity of them in relation to our bed it is no surprise how much we could hear. We spoke to the front desk about changing rooms however, understandably as it was Caribana weekend, nothing could be done. While we are reasonable enough to understand that a fully booked hotel means we’re staying put, the “gentleman” at the front desk was rude and smirked his way through our conversation – leaves a bad taste when you can see management laughing at your misfortune in a room they are providing. No apologies, nothing.

Won’t be staying here again and definitely not going to recommend. I must add however, the washroom is amazing! So if you do ever end up at the Soho, even if your room is tiny, the washroom will be the one saving grace.

This hotel is top end luxury, the service was fantastic and location was good for downtown Toronto, although to walk to the majority for shops and local Dundas Square was perhaps 30mins away. However the subway and street cars are readily available. The bed in the hotels was perhaps the most comfortable (and biggest) bed I have ever slept in! The bakery in the hotel was great and the service at the bar was great (however top end hotels have top end prices). The housekeeping in the hotel was great and so to was the technical features within the hotel.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the SoHo. It was elegant, very clean, quiet, and close to lots of attractions and restaurants. We did feel slightly out of place as we are a young couple on a casual vacation, and the hotel had a rich business man feel to it... We also heard another young group saying they felt so out of place... But, even though we felt out of place, the staff made us feel welcome...

I have stayed at this hotel more than 15 times since it opened and it remains one of my favorite hotels in the world, mostly because of the fantastic and personal service that is offered there. Rooms are very similar to the Hazelton, but I still prefer the atmosphere at the Soho which is a little more laid back. I even managed to stay there last year during the Juno Awards, fellow guests included Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas and Perez Hilton. I highly recommend the gym which is one of the better gyms I have had at a hotel (nearly up there with the gym at the St. Regis in SF). The bar is fine and so is the breakfast at Senses (do try the chocolate which comes from Thomas Haas).

The SoHo Metropolitan is beautiful. Comfy beds, spacious rooms, really friendly and helpful staff, beautiful decor, nice lounge.
Just don't make the mistake we did, of booking at the OTHER Metropolitan by mistake. Although the staff are just as friendly and helpful, the rooms are not nearly as nice. We were lucky and with the help of the SoHo Met staff, were able to switch our reservation over.
