Perhaps I didn't read the write-up carefully enough, or should've known from the price, but this is evidently a former hotel, now owned (or just used) by the nearby college. The lobby, halls, and rooms look like dorms--that is, shabby (or no) carpet, shabby (or no) furniture, no AC in public areas. There were classes being given in the conference rooms and students were hanging about everywhere. This does not offend me--we have two of them--but it was just unexpected and odd.
They advertised WiFi, but it was only available in the "lobby" area, and as there was no furniture, you had to stand or sit on the floor. The walls were lined with students, computers, books, etc. at all hours.
The room was okay, but there were no headboards on the beds, the bottom sheet came untucked as soon as you sat down and the towels were threadbare. There are NO "amenities," not even a hair dryer.
The breakfast was poor to pathetic. Raisen Bran, Friut Loops, Corn Flakes, doughy bagels, white bread, and underripe (pears) or bruised (bananas or apples) fruit (one type each day) were the only options. The coffee was lousy.
So...we stayed there bc our daughter was in the same hotel with a sports team, and we would not likely have made another choice even if we had understood the situation. But anyone looking to stay here under other circumstances should make another choice.
The price (very reasonable) is probably about right for the offerings, but the peculiar student residence situation should be addressed--at least by informing potential guests.

We moved here from the Travelodge across the street and ended up staying at CR&CC for nearly a month. The rooms were clean, spacious and had all the amenities one desires (coffee maker, fridge, microwave, etc.). Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful especially the manager, Annie. Security is tight which keeps the place safe. Ample parking only steps away.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Toronto because its cheap, the location is great and the hotel itself is fantastic.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 3rd floor which allows you to have an extra elevator in case the main elevators ar...

We were a bit surprised to learn that this was mostly a university residence, but it did not impact our stay one bit. Our rooms was everything we would expect from a normal hotel. It was a nice large room that had good amenities, frequent room service and nice towels. One gripe was the fact that it had wired internet and the short cord meant that we had to sit on the floor to use it. We also had to pay $5 for parking every day but considering the cost of parking downtown, that wasnt too bad. The staff were slightly slow, but friendly and helpful.

I spent 4 days early June 2013 at this hotel and was quite satisfied about it. Hotel representatives and staff were nice.

The hotel lift is a bit on the slow side.

The room had 2 double beds, a good working and clean refrigerator, a microwave, a coffeemaker, a good quality flat screen TV with a fair amount of channels, a LAN internet with good speed (Wi-Fi only at the lobby level), etc. When I stayed there it was reasonably quiet. No car noises from the 401 or from the surroundings. The big car park just outside my room was vacant and there were not so many guests or students at the time. There was a minor issue in the bathroom but not worth complaining about it. Overall the room was quite good and clean.

The breakfast is simple (includes apples, bagels, bread, peanut butter, coffee, tea, etc.), highly sufficient and very tasty.

Near the hotel you can take the bus (134) to Scarborough Centre and from there on to any direction. A good starting point to explore Toronto by public transport (TTC).

If I ever visit Toronto in the near future, I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

We were there for a five night stay with tao volleyball teams and had a Great stay. Mind you this isn't the Sheraton or Fairmont but the price isn't the same either. The staff was very Nice and did everything to accomodate us. The rooms aren't new but were cleaned every day. The kitchen facilities were food and the continental breakfast was good. We would stay there again if we come back with teams.

I cannot even begin to rate this "hotel"! It is a dorm residence 10 months of the year and they try and pass it off as a hotel the other 2. We were reminded of this several times like when we asked if there was a printer to use, clean rooms, hair dryers, computer access....WE ARE NOT students if we are paying hotel guests so if you want to pretend to be a hotel then you need to provide for your guests. This place is disgusting! Filthy, run down, old, stinky - I could go on and on. The pool was open from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm - which are the hours our girls were supposed to be attending the volleyball nationals at the Energy Centre. Therefore they could not even access the pool. There were drunks and fights in the parking lot EVERY night! One night we were to scared to get out of our vehicle because of the fight going on right in front of the door. The sheets on the beds were filthy, the mattresses stained, missing equipment, patched dirty wallpaper, disgustingly filthy windows, old worn out towels, on and on. I don't know who would want to use this as a conference centre. They don't even have a business space. If you want to print anything you have to go behind the front desk, use their computer and then print to their personal computer!! very personal! And if you want to use your laptop...you have to retrieve a lovely 20 ft bright blue cord from the front desk to plug your computer in in your room but before you can plug it in I hope you brought your muscles because you have to pull out the wall unit from the wall to plug it in - and I mean PULL IT ALL THE WAY OUT! And the best part...the bed bugs!!! Yes several of the rooms found bed bugs! We have all just spent a couple of days debugging all of our belonging for fear the critters caught a ride home. I have not one good thing to say about this place. The organization that recommended this place as a host hotel needs to give their head a shake. There is not way that anyone actually checked this place out. Either be a dorm where students can live in their own filth or be a hotel and treat your guests like they are in a hotel.

Room Tip: there is not a good room to be had so no tips!!

Annie S, Manager at Centennial College Residence, responded to this reviewResponded 7 March 2013

Over the last couple of years Toronto has seen an increased amount of bed bugs incidences and as such the Centennial College Residence & Conference Centre has taken a proactive approach in dealing with the problem. In doing so, we have enlisted the help of a pest control company that provides efficient service in a timely matter and is knowledgeable in the area of bed bugs.

As outlined by Toronto Public Health, it is illegal to fumigate a building/unit without reason. Our policy outlines that all suspected rooms are inspected by both a trained member of our staff and a pest control professional. If bed bugs are found, the room is treated along with the surrounding rooms as a preventative measure. As an added measure twice a year the building undergoes a K9 inspection at which time every suite is inspected.

Please be assured The Centennial College Residence & Conference Centre takes all concerns serious to ensure the health and happiness of our guests.
