Bistrot 92 is a small boite in an inelegant section of mid-town Toronto where the street is being destroyed to build new transit. Those are ALL the negatives. Other than that, this place offers really great French bistro cooking at prices that will amaze you.
The prix fixe dinner is currently $37 a person, and includes a small amuse-bouche, plus your choice of appetizer, main, and dessert. (To add two glasses of house wine, it's $45) Brunch on weekends is less expensive, but the quality of both is fantastic.
During visits there, we've enjoyed dishes that varied from seafood in cream sauce in puff pastry, perfect Eggs Benedict, braised lamb shank, baked salmon, chicken supreme in mushroom sauce, crepes for both brunch and dessert, and much more. The chef was trained at the Tour D'Argent, one of the most storied restaurants in the world, and it shows in his attention to detail, and the flavours that jump off the plate.
If you enjoy French cooking, this is a chance to indulge it without breaking your pocketbook. You will think it's fantastic!
