“Amazing! Vlogged my experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

I had an amazing time at the aquarium, saw so many wonderful sea creatures. Some of my favourites were the jellyfishes, sharks, stingrays and the tropical fishes.

It was fairly easy to get to the aquarium from Union station. We just followed the Skywalk signage. Right at the exit was the Ripley's aquarium.

The dangerous lagoon was definitely the highlight for me. It was a thrilling experience with all the different types of sharks swimming over your head. Bonus was, you didnt even have to walk! Just stand on the conveyor belt, relax, and enjoy the view.

The cherry to top it all off was the Discovery Centre. Having the experience to touch some horseshoe crabs and stingrays made this visit an excellent one. Friendly creatures, and the staff was enthusiastic, as well as very knowledgable.

“Ok...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

It's a nice aquarium, LOTS of kids and strollers. Very interactive for children. Went on a Monday and was pretty crowded. Thought the entrance fee was a little too pricey for the size. Loved the glass tunnel with sharks and manta rays. The jellyfish exhibit was great as was the kelp forrest.

“Nice but a bit pricey”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

This review is a bit late.... we went last year.

The place itself is impressive. Colourful, clean, and informative. Very nice tanks of many varieties of fish that are well maintained. The show was a bit disappointing. It was just a diver in a tank hand-feeding the fish to bring them to the glass and another person on a mic commentating. But it's ok. It's not Sea World after all. There's a coat check, snack bar and gift shop. Again a bit pricey. We just walked over to the CN Tower and had lunch there.

This attraction would definitely be a once a year experience for this local Torontonian.

“Can be crowded”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

The design is phenomenal and could give you a great experience. Unfortunately, we went on a Sunday morning and it was soooo crowded that it made it difficult to keep in contact with the children and to see all the exhibits. We loved the way some exhibits were set up especially for children. However, I don't think they should allow soooo many people in at once. There were many strollers and wheelchairs and some of the areas were difficult to get through. If some emergency had happened, I don't think it would have been pretty. We were told that going during the week was best, and after school so the schools would not be on tours. However, if you are coming from out of town on a weekend, that isn't possible. They had a nice gift show that you channeled through in order to exit and they had some things there that were actually reasonably priced.

“OK, but...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

I love aquariums, and have visited dozens around the world. I had high hopes for Ripley's, but alas I was ultimately disappointed. If you're a kid and just want to look at fishies, then this is going to be just fine. There's the "wow" factor in a long tunnel through the main aquarium that kids and even many adults will be fascinated by, but I found it routine and almost tedious. I tend to hope to learn something, anything, at each aquarium, and I found that not to be the case here. I read all the stuff posted, but it's general mass-market content and nothing for an educated adult. There's also nothing really unique here: all the fish and mammals are what you'll find in any other aquarium, there's little focus on the Ontario watershed and lakes, Canadian marine, or arctic environments. The place has some decent sized tanks, with some impressive views into the tanks, but in the end it's got absolutely nothing to differentiate itself from some of the world's better aquariums. I had a lot more fun at the Vancouver aquarium than here in Toronto.

There was a massive lineup the first time I went, with a two hour delay. So, heading back on a rainy middle of the week day, it was still full of school kids on an outing, which also didn't help the experience. For kids, it's fine. For adults, I'll skip going ever again...
