Owner description: The Ed Mirvish Theatre began its life in 1920 as a combination vaudeville and motion picture theatre in the Pantages theatre circuit. With its original 3373 seats, it was the largest cinema in Canada and, with its lavish interior - designed by the great theatre architect Thomas Lamb - the most elegant. David Mirvish officially renamed the iconic building The Ed Mirvish Theatre on December 6, 2011.

I was a bit disappointed in the changes in the theatre since the 1990s when Phantom was the main attraction at the theatre, however this building has a beautiful history, and has housed some fantastic productions. Recently attended the wizard of oz (must say not Andrew Lloyd Webbers best) it was a decent show, however this theatre will always be remembered as the Pantages theatre where Phantom was the main attraction... It would be nice to see this production return.

Welcome to Toronto where all the old buildings eventually are converted to condos... Beautiful old theatre that should be saved. Hopefully they will incorporate the old theatre into what ever they build on top. Easy access by streetcar or a short walk from the University subway line. Lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood but they can be very busy on show nights.

We enjoyed a good performance of Cats at this theatre. I liked the way we were allowed to bring our drinks into the auditorium with us. We had an excellent view and all enjoyed the performance

Went in August to see the Wizard of Oz. The theater is in a great location on Yonge Street and is well maintained. The show was awesome and they seem to always have major shows like this, Cats and others. The entire family really enjoyed it.

We saw the Wizard of Oz here with the family and what a wonderful historic theatre. The level of detail in the architeture is absolutely amazing and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. We enjoyed our time here immensely.
