We were pleasantly surprised with how high-end this artsy boutique hotel felt. The in-room tablets were fast and a convenient touch. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. TTC stops just outside the hotel, made travelling into the downtown core effortless and the close parking spots were perfect for us out-of-towners! I have told all my Ottawa friends about how amazing this hotel is for Toronto escapes!

The Gladstone Hotel in Toronto was nice. The bed was VERY comfortable (probably the best part of the room). The bathroom was clean (although I did see a bit of mildew). The staff was helpful and friendly. The worse part about the hotel was the parking situation. There was a wedding party at the hotel and by the time we got there all of the parking spaces were taken so it took about 45 minutes (or more) to find an available spot on the street. Other than that, the hotel was in a nice location near the Portuguese neighborhood and we were able to walk downtown and see the city. The hotel itself was very artsy and very original, with each floor show-casing different photo displays. Very nice overall.

We stayed over a Saturday night for a quick mini vacation. Our room had incredible atmosphere. We both loved it. The service at the hotel was excellent. We ate breakfast on Sunday morning and loved the food and coffee.
It had all the atmosphere of an art resort (think Cosmopolitan in Vegas) without the flight and silly frou-frou façade.

Room Tip: We chose not to visit the fitness centre, so please ignore the average pool/fitness centre rating...

I've stayed at the Gladstone twice, in different rooms, and I've loved both experiences. I love that you can pick your own room while booking online, and it's a ton of fun to look through all the options to choose which one you want. The rooms are small, but they have everything I'd need for a couple of days. The bar has good snacks and delicious drinks. I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know who is traveling to Toronto and who appreciates trying something a little bit different than your standard boring hotel.

What an experience! I was lucky enough to spend a weekend at the Gladstone in May with my boyfriend. Originally, we only had the Friday night booked for a concert and were going to go home afterwards. When plans changed and we wanted to stay the Saturday night as well, the staff was amazing and very accommodating. We had to switch rooms on Saturday - which was fine, because at this hotel each room is unique and different. Our first night we stayed in the Canadiana room, which was beautiful. Pretty big - I was skeptical because as an avid reader of reviews, I had my doubts when many guests said the rooms were small.. However, they were pretty generous in my opinion. I think it varies by room though. The second night we stayed in the Blue Line room - which was not quite as quirky but still pretty cool. The hotel has coffee on each floor every morning, and different artwork throughout the entire building. It's hipster paradise for sure, but it was fun and made for a phenomenal weekend. Would gladly book again just to see the other rooms!

Gladstone is a kind of very special place with a unique atmosphere, and located in an amazing red brick old building. There is art pieces everywhere. Rooms are rather tiny but very nicely designed by artists. Beds and sheets are excellent. Shower is probably the smallest shower cabin in the world - but it's ok. The only real problem of Gladstone is it's very beautiful bar / restaurant …. that serves really bad food. Expensive food - but (!) bad food. Cocktails are the same: expensive and poorly prepared. In front of the hotel you have a street car stop that will bring you straight into the "center" (museum AGO, CN tower, etc.)

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room - maybe with view on CN tower. Ask also for a rather big room as some are reall...

Absolutely fabulous; Toronto’s oldest continuously-run hotel is a must-visit. It’s a well-known feature of this hotel that each room is entirely individual; each one designed by a different artist or designer. I stayed in two rooms: #315 “The Today Room”, and #415 “Snapshot”. Neither room was ‘large’ by today’s average standards, of course, but every effort has been made here to make the most of each space. The Today Room blends the bare bones of the hotels brick walls with light hues and an impressive black and white ceramic mosaic in the bathroom. In one corner is a re-upholstered captain’s chair that is reminiscent of a dentist chair, but suits the room very well. The cramped desk area is the only aspect that detracts from an otherwise comfortable room. The Snapshot room features an inventive full-wall collage of abstract, fall-colour photography. Both rooms come with an Android tablet for guest use. The rest of the hotel oozes with character, with expansive creaky old hallways, art displayed everywhere, and an ancient elevator. Breakfast at the café was really good, and not too expensive. Parking is right across the street, but is very limited. Truly a unique and rewarding experience; one I look forward to repeating soon. 10/10
