Owner description: Established in 1979, this "gay, lesbian and queer" theater company produces edgy and provocative new Canadian works. Their work is not for everyone (the list of upcoming productions identifies shows that are "not for the faint of heart," and they mean it), but Buddies produces shows that you simply won't see anywhere else. The theater also stages Canadian adaptations of some well-known works, such as Ibsen's Hedda Gabler. American Sky Gilbert has helped build the theater's cutting-edge reputation.

Whether you're going to Buddies on a Saturday night to dance your feet off or on a Sunday afternoon for a play, you'll enjoy yourself. Buddies in Bad Times is a very versatile space nestled in the Church-Wellesley Gay Village in Toronto. It supports young artists with a variety of play festivals and has a great, intimate theatre space in which to do so. It was also one of the first gay clubs I went to as a gay teenager in Toronto, and I can't remember ever having had more fun. The music on a Saturday night is always fun and current, the dance floor is full of sweaty, happy people... you can't go wrong!

“U don;t have to be gay to enjoy this fantastic queer theatre.”

Buy a pass and enjoy. It's cheap (even cheaper if under 30) and their shows are of good quality.

I went to Buddies in Bad Times Theatre to see the show "Madonna Saved Me" it was the best comedy musical ever! The first girl does leona lewis, and then jason comes out. I mean it was off the wall hilarious. you can see the videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9eCVPCnw0A. I will be posting more up from the shoe. except i decided to write the review first. They had really good beer, i had a stella. Very warm and inviting, everyone hung out after word talkin about the show, and then they had some dance music for those who wanted to dance. Loved it and would go see anything they did, again!
