Owner description: The Princess of Wales Theatre is a 2000-seat playhouse built by the father and son producing team of David and Ed Mirvish, just a block away from their historic Royal Alexandra Theatre. The Princess of Wales is the first privately owned and financed theatre built in Canada since 1907 - and the first anywhere in North America in over 30 years. Construction began on August 6, 1991, and the building opened to the public with the musical Miss Saigon on May 26, 1993.The theatre was built with maximum flexibility in mind. Its stage is one of the widest and deepest in North America - large enough to accommodate the most spectacular theatrical productions - and its technical facilities are state-of-the-art.

Great production!! Princess of Wales theatre is glorious
Show had great variety
Only problem was near the end some of the audience stood up to cheer the performance and blocked our view, they should have been instructed to sit down

“a beautiful venue that needs to stay”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

saw the second last day of Les Mis. seats were 2nd row floors center. worth the price to pay to see the actors expressions and orchestra's magic. this 20 year old theatre still looks fresh and modern. a wonderful location and underground parking. a second parking enterance/exit would be nice to avoid the line up of cars onto the street. the front facade is grand as it should be for a live theatre. they could do away with the street beggars though. the lobby is slighly small but once people move to the upper levels then there is plenty of space. i have been going to this theatre since the opening of Miss Saigon, i have seen Sound of Music, Jersey Boys, Lion King... so i support this theatre and live theatre in toronto. sad to see this being torn down for condos but that's business. the TSO, ballet and opera have their own venus to keep them going, too bad the POW doesnt have the same.

“A beautiful modern theatre”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

This is a gorgeous theatre. I've been several times before but was just there recently to see Les Miserables. We had great seats in GG and really enjoyed the show.
The bathrooms could be more well marked, and I hate that they sell popcorn. It is supposed to be a classy world class theatre. The last thing I want to hear is people crunching on popcorn during the show.
