Stayed here for three nights. I really don't think I would come back.

Pros:
Nice staff, good breakfast, location, space/room size

Cons:
hallway noise, below average bed, evening food, lower end amenities, cost for a Residence Inn, no Marriott (Gold) benefit

Stayed: June 2012, travelled on business

It's been about a year since I last visited this property and to my delight most of the 'old' staff was still around. To me this is a sign of a commitment in providing excellence in service to customers and again, I was not disappointed. Staff is always available and willing to assure your stay is as conformable as possible. This along with the cleanliness of the rooms and the entire property ALWAYS makes my stay in Toronto a special one.

Room Tip: Suites ending with 05 and 10 (e.g. 1705) are bit bigger and the AC is not pointing directly at your...

This was our second less than acceptable stay & while this property has promise it is not worth the cost or much less taking another chance on.

The rooms here are nice, modern, spacious and well-appointed and what one would expect from the Marriot Residence Inn brand.

Before dinner we went to take a shower and were absolutely sickened and disgusted by the filth and hairs in the tub. There were long black hairs everywhere including under the half empty shampoo and conditioners. We counted numerous pubic hairs in and around the tub.

After reporting the matter to the front desk and requesting a manager the housekeeping supervisor showed up. She first tried to minimize the fact that the hairs must have fallen off the shower curtain…… when it was pointed out that they must be pretty strong hairs to fall off the curtain and then get under a half empty shampoo container, the supervisor then refused to address any further issues and became standoffish and abruptly left the room. A short time later another housekeeper showed up and thoroughly cleaned the tub and washroom and put in new Shampoo and soap!

When one stays at a hotel it is an inherent fact that there have been many previous guests, it is totally unacceptable to have to endure the filth of the previous guests!

It is also totally unacceptable for hotels to risk manage the guest experience by not thoroughly cleaning rooms and in particular washrooms.

On our first stay we requested a feather free non-allergenic room. When we checked in we found feather pillows and bedding. A call to housekeeping and personal came up to the room and stripped the bed down and replaced the pillows and bedding.

An hour after turning in for the night we both became very ill. Apparently the housekeeping staff just replaced the feather bedding and feather pillows with the same. More fool us for trusting them.

We had a very stressful sleepless night which included taking a number of doses of antihistamines.

Weekend Breakfast is an absolute zoo. There is a que just to get a table, they run out of food, and there is no organization….. More like a first come, first to grab the last bagel or cream cheese, who can push the hardest to get to the toaster surrounded by a hoard or guests.

Best just give up and enjoy a proper paid breakfast off the premises. The complimentary breakfast has no value unless you enjoy chaos, picked over food and stampedes of people!

The property has promise but we will never stay here again. Management needs to address their housekeeping issues or lack of accredited housekeeping personal.

The filth and memories of getting sick will forever tarnish our thoughts of this place and we cannot recommend a stay here!

Room Tip: Avoid this property

We traveled to Residence Inn by Marriott Entertainment District June 13-17 2012. Everything was top notch from the front desk to housekeeping departments. The breakfast was a great plus. The guest service manager was the best manager that I have had the pleasure of meeting. I travel to many hotels and I have to say that this is at the top of my list..Lookiing forward to our return,

Our room which had a kitchen area was clean and well equipped. The communal areas are also well maintained. On the first night we experienced noise from the next room until 5am. I complained to the manager who told me to call the front desk if this happened again. The hotel could do with a bar area in my view. Also at breakfast several items run out and are not replenished quickly and the hot food is the same every day. This could be improved. However go general the hotel is very good but could be even better.

What more to say. This hotel offers suites, even though we never used the kitchen because a hot breakfast is included, it was nice to have a real fridge. It's a 30 sec walk to the Rogers Centre and an easy walk to all of downtown Toronto. Found the hotel parking expensive, but there's a Vinci parking just behind it with better prices.

The pool at the hotel is on the cold side, but was quite nice after a long day of sightseeing.

PS: We managed to get this hotel through Priceline at an unbelievable price. Suggest trying that for others interested in downtown Toronto!

Great staff who were very helpful. Really nice, clean and well-decorated rooms. The location is excellent -- right downtown and close to the entertainment discript, theatres, Skydome, ACC, and a close walk to the subway system. The free breakfast and noon checkout were welcomed. I would stay again.
