“Incredible Hotel...Simply The Best”
Reviewed 31 March 2010

After spending 2 nights at the Hazelton Hotel in Toronto, I am now sold that this is the number one hotel in Canada. The hotel is located on the most exclusive street in Toronto, Yorkville Avenue. The lobby is gorgeous and the front door and desk staff surround the area always smiling and greeting me (most of the time by name always!). Upon check in, the staff who escorted me to my room gave me an overview of the features, including the bathroom floor warmers and the electronic drapes and lighting system. Absolutely the most luxurious and HUGE room I have ever stayed in! The restaurant is the perfect fit for the hotel. Very trendy atmosphere that stinks of wealth and class. It is very impressive, but I would recommend venturing out in Yorkville and trying some of the other fine restaurants.
This hotel is now my number one choice for Toronto, for business or for pleasure. Well done team Hazelton. You put the Four Seasons to shame and have now won a very loyal customer.

We stayed at the Hazelton for meetings for two days and had a wonderful time. The rooms are perfect with everything you could need. The restaurant was absolutely fantastic from the appetizers to the excellent choice of wine. The bar was busy both nights and was a great atmosphere to enjoy some cocktails.

Highly recommend and worth every penny.

Toronto in the winter is nothing if not grey and unfortunately the dark tones and subdued lighting in the rooms gives the same feeling. It isn't helped by the building being a low rise and hence lacking any views which reinforces the gloom. However, rooms are well equipped and spacious. Bathrooms are well appointed with welcome underfloor heating and larger bottles of L'Occitane than one gets at other hotels ie the Four Seasons.

Only had breakfast at the hotel and they score high marks for no dreaded buffet but fast and efficient table service. The bar gets quite crowded largely because all of the tables are against the walls, not making the best use of space but they mix a good cocktail and stock Chartreuse, seldom found these days in any bar. Top marks for that.

I love a swim and need to do my 822m a day to rach my annual target, so with the promise of a lap pool, thought I would add to the tally. However, the deeply subterranean pool is easily mistaken for a foot bath and the photographs on the website are very misleading. It cannot be more than 8 metres, which hardly qualifies as a lap pool, as one good kick off and you're hitting the other end. Please be honest in your descriptions as it does not reflect well on management.

Overall, it's a good hotel and a sound choice in a not particularly well served city.

What to say about the Hazelton Hotel. First of all, its in a wonderful location (if you have deep pockets for shopping or just want to stay in Yorkville) and secondly the room was fantastic. The beds were really cozy and comfortable and the staff were really amazing and courteous without being pretentious. The bathrooms were really big and nice, great soaker tub too. Room service was always under 15 minutes no matter what you ordered, plus it always came from one of Toronto's best restaurants. WOW. Although on the pricey side, I would say you get just as good as value as anywhere else in Toronto, especially if you catch a deal. If you stay in Toronto, I would definitely choose the Hazelton Hotel.

The Hazelton is lovely, situated in the heart of Yorkville. We spent our first anniversary there and had a wonderful time. We were there the first weekend after New Years -- a typically slow time for hotels, as I understand it -- which is probably why they upgraded us at check-in. Our room was beautiful, with an amazing marble bathroom, and huge dressing area. The sleeping area was quite large as well, with enough room for two massage tables to be set-up (we had a couple massage in our room -- very nice!). The restaurant was delicious, and the service great. No complaints aside from the fact that the room backs on to an alleyway, and we could hear a delivery truck in the AM. This place isn't cheap, but worth it, especially as a little treat on your anniversary.

Myself and my significant other chose the Hazelton to celebrate our anniversary and new years eve as well.

check-in: 5 minutes after stepping out of our car at the valet, we were settled in our room and our bags were being brought in. Wow...did that really just happen??? Check-in was incredibly smooth, there was even an employee on the ground floor holding the elevator for us to go up, when the checking in process was complete. During the booking of our stay, hubby had mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary, and we were surprised to see a complimentary chilled bottle of champagne, chocolates, and a hand written note wishing us a happy anniversary and happy new year waiting for us in the room!! wow!!

rooms: there was nothing left to be desired with the rooms. Very sleek and modern marble bathrooms with heated floors and a tv in the bathroom mirror. The bed was very comfortable and there was a complimentary pillow menu available. The hotel even offered to polish your shoes overnight!! We ordered room service for breakfast which was delicious and well worth it.

Overall experience: The Hazelton advertises themself as a true 5* hotel in Toronto. The level of professionalism and service offered here lived up to our expectations. Prior to our check-in, we were debating between 2 restaurants for our anniversary dinner (neither was the restaurant in the hotel) and we emailed the concierge asking what they would recommend. We receievd a courteous response with information regarding both the restaurants. It is the little touches like this that set apart the Hazelton from other properties in Toronto. This hotel is gorgeous, beautifully furnished and I would reccomend it to anyone looking to indulge and celebrate a special occasion.

I had to travel to Toronto for a 2 day business trip and stayed at The Hazelton Hotel and it was a wonderful experience. It is a true 5 star hotel. The decor is beautiful. Very clean, the bed was exceptional, the location is fantastic, it is right on the major exclusive shopping road and offices. The concierge was extremely helpful and they have a fantastic spa. I had a great massage and facial. The only thing I was a bit surprised is that room service did not know the difference between a cafe late and cappuccino, both were not very good and they were the same. But that is my only complaint. Yes, it was expensive but worth it. G traveler
