“Clean, Great Atmosphere, Good Location”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

One of the best hostel experiences I have ever had. Hostel rooms are clean, especially the bathrooms which are cleaned every day. Had a great atmosphere with nice guests and staffs who are engaging. Rooftop was an awesome place to hang out and they have BBQ's on Saturdays for everyone. Close to Chinatown, Kensington, and a good 15-20 minute walk to downtown. Would definitely stay here again.

This is literally the best hostel I've ever stayed in - the staff (especially Carl, worlds nicest man) are so friendly and helpful, everybody is warm and welcoming and the common areas are delightful. It is worth paying $40 a night just for the incredible roof top view - and both the pub crawl and BBQ are highlights of the week. I stayed here 6 weeks and loved very second, making life long friends and getting the stability and home I needed. What an absolute pleasure!

One of the best hostel in Toronto.
It is close to the University of Toronto and next to the Spadina Station, so you can get a subway or a street car and go everywhere you want to visit.
Clean hostel and the service is pretty good, the staffs are very well prepared.
Recommend it.

My recent stay in Toronto at Planet Traveler was my first 'hostel' experience and I'd stay there again in a heart beat! The front desk staff were very pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable, the common rooms (main and rooftop) and kitchen/dining area well outfitted. Completely agree with all of the recent reviews. I felt very secure as the building, floor and room were card access only and keyed lockers. The six bed dorm was clean and other occupants were respectful of each others schedules and space, which was quite limited. I couldn't have asked for nicer roomies. If I was to make one suggestion it would be to provide hooks on the walls for hanging outdoor coats etc. as the lockers were a little too small to accommodate these and a shelf under the bathroom sink to hold toiletry kits.
The location was central and easily accessed by public transit no matter which way I was going. I took the Airport Rocket public transit connection which was only two blocks from the hostel.
I'll be staying at the Planet Traveler on all my subsequent visits to Toronto GUARANTEED.
Thanks Planet Traveler!

Planet Traveler is a great place to stay, I would stay again if ever I need to. The vibe is great, the interior design is modern, minimalist and nature-y, the included breakfast is good, and the location can't be beat. Right around the corner is a dépanneur or convenience store for basic groceries, and there are a number of restaurants too. The bedrooms were nothing special, the linens were clean, but definitely looked a bit worn and had a couple stains (we always bring our own pillowcases as an extra precaution, too).
My only complaint is that the room we stayed in was way too warm at night (this was in April), and there is no window to open. I discovered that there was climate control for the four rooms in our section of the building, and was able to modify it (to a bit too cold, but much better). Fortunately no one else seemed to need to change it from my chosen setting, but I can't help but wonder what it would've been like if we had to fight over it! I don't know if this is the case for all rooms on each floor, but I would check to make sure you can change the temperature for your room before booking, or at least before tucking in for the night, just in case.

Room Tip: Check to make sure you can change the temperature for your room before booking, or at least before t...

I have stayed here a couple times and always enjoy it. My first stay I even had a room to myself! Great staff, amazing value. Always a good mix of people and great conversations. Clean, and near a lot.

Great location, super helpful staff, always clean, nice breakfast, big kitchen, fast internet. Couldn't ask for a better place. Nice rooftop where you get a great view of the CN Tower. Rooms area was quiet.
