There are two galleries and you need to appreciate the unusual to understand the art in the exhibits. Also showing was a 20 minute video filmed in a furniture store focusing on the life of a family living there. Bizzare. The only good thing you were asked to pay what you thought it deserved.

This gallery is part of a complex with a large theatre and a small concert hall. The gallery is small and has very little to see. Even worse, their hours are erratic so it's hard to know when they are open.

I walked a long way to see this museum, its in quite a charming part of Toronto, so a nice walk. I asked the concierge to check if it was open on their site, which she did. When I got there & tried to go in I was told quite abruptly that it was closed for an installation & that the concierge has lied when she said it was open. I would suggest that a public museum needs to do more than leave a voicemail message on their answering machine when they are closed outside normal schedules.....

We were looking for a way to start a late morning shopping tour of the West Queen Street area and started here. Very easy to get to with public transportation. We took the trolley which stops just before the museum. It has just the right size galleries to take in the museum and appreciate the themes and ideas of the exhibition. The friendly staff inspired us to look at exhibits in other galleries as well. Plenty of good food and coffee shops nearby.

After the embarrassment of riches in the AGO MOCCA is a relaxed and friendly gallery devoted to contemporary art staffed by some real helpful and knowledgable staff. Some of the art is challenging but always worth exploring. The Edward Day gallery next door is also not to be missed as are other galleries further up Queen St West.
