Sandman Signature Toronto Airport Hotel

We are a family of five and chose this hotel based on the great reviews in Trip Advisor and its apparent ability to accomodate 2 Adults and 3 Children in a Family Suite.

The internet booking allows a request for 2 Adults and 3 Children with the option of the more spacious Family Suite. I requested a cot on the reservation.

When we checked in we were told the suite had a King, bunk beds and could accomodate a crib. The hotel does not own cots. When pressed, a manager said he would obtain a cot from another hotel.

We used the pool in the evening but could not find change rooms in the pool area. There were no bath robes supplied in the suite so there was a predicament about changing to swim.

We received one key card for 5 people.

I rated the hotel a "4" because it is modern, with an edgey decor. It would succeed as a downtown hotel. It is definitely not your typical airport hotel. The style of the hotel made up for the few frustrations we had. If the hotel offers a "Family Suite" and the internet booking accepts 2 Adults and 3 Children they need to alter their mindset.

I'm in the travel industry, so my veiws are sometimes more critical, however I could not find a single fault with this property. The front desk employees have welcomed me warmly and even asked for a room prefference. The lobby looks very inviting and very cosy with the fireplace.
I liked my room very much: the bed was very comfortable with great linnens, the room design was sleek and the bathroom was great with a heated make up mirror. I did get a tour of the property (thanks Fabio, sorry that you will be leaving Canada soon) and everything looked excellent. The pool and hot tub were sparkling clean and the gym had pplenty of equipment to chose from. I would add a couple of chairs/loungers by the pool, because there weren't any. I went to the hotel's restaurant (Moxie's) for dinner, the menu matched in sophistication the hotel and the dishes that I have ordered were all great looking and very tasty. I'm considering staying at this property for my birthday, in August.
I was getting sick and tired of the many run down hotels near Toronto Airport, as we always have to look for stop over hotels for our clients and I always like to put them in a nice place, even if it's only for 1 night before their trip, because I strongly believe that if a client's first night is an aggravation, then it may put a shadow on the whole trip.
Well done Sandman! I'm looking forward to recommend you to my clients!
Thanks!

The Sandman is a great addition to the Toronto Airport Hotel district. The hotel allows you to park and fly for up to 14 days. If you book through selloffvacations.com you can get really great rates on the park and fly.

The Sandman is one of the many hotels that cater to the Pearson Airport travellers and are located some distance from the airport.
What distinguishes the Sandman is the fact that it has a decent restaurant, and an absolutely reliable and prompt shuttle, so that the distance is actually not a factor. Noise form the airport is inaudible, unless you use the balcony (why? well... if you enjoy vistas of parking lots and/or watching planes land on two runways).
The rooms are somewhat smaller than what premium chains offer, but for CAN$139 you will have a fridge (where we store/freeze food overnight when we go on trips to the Caribbean) in a very well-appointed and comfortable room.
You can also ask the hotel to keep a piece of luggage while you are away (the one in which you store your Canadian winter gear).
Moxy's, the restaurant, dark and bathed in music (a little loud), actually offers carefully prepared, original dishes that are well worth exploring (spinach halibut being one) for a reasonable price, a rarity in the food desert around the airport, where a lot of hotels have abandoned the idea of having a restaurant (and if you get there late, well, too bad).
Just like the hotel itself, it is good value for thoughtfully designed products and services.

We booked through Expedia. The hotel is well situated, a few blocks fron the airport. The room was well appointed and quite spacious. We got a king size bed and a separate area for the children that consisted of a bunk bed, their own television and bean bags.

The restaurant is quite nice and serves good breakfast at reasonnable price (for an airport location). Our family was quite pleased with the short stay before our trip south.

This hotel is the latest addition to the Dixon Rd. strip so as you would expect it is fresh, modern and clean. Their trademark is green apples, which are used as a decoration in the lobby and on each floor as you exit the elevators. The on-site Moxie's restaurant is very convenient. We stayed in a family suite, and the bunk beds and bright red bean-bag chair left an impression on my eldest son. Price and service were reasonable. Only down side was that their pool was still under construction, which left Daddy with a lot of explaining to do.

Stayed one night to catch an early morning flight. Price was reasonable. Half hour shuttle service; about a 10 minute drive each way, not too bad at all.

Didn't partake in bar / restaurant / gym activities.

Hotel is obviously fairly new. Staff were extremely nice and attentive and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room was large and well accommodated, internet was included.

Felt like a "business" rather than a pleasure room, but that was OK.

NO problems whatsover during short stay.
