Description: Reminiscent of a 1930's Parisian Bistro, Biff's Bistro is a smart, upscale masterpiece by Toronto uber-restaurateurs Peter Oliver and Michael Bonacini. The stylish lounge, featuring a stunning zinc-topped bar, represents pure vintage design, while handsome leather banquettes, warm wood paneling and grand mirrors create a rich, lively dining space. In this setting, Chef Amanda Ray presents an extensive menu of inspiring French bistro cuisine, with an impressive corresponding wine list. Located in the heart of downtown, just steps away from many downtown theatres, hotels and the Air Canada Centre.

Our dining experience at Biff's on the evening of Thursday November 1st was absolutely top notch. Our waitress, Leslie, was extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine and served the meal at exactly the right pace, while efficiently serving the other tables about us. She is certainly a jewel of a server. The menu offers items that are truly french bistro inspired, and a cut far above the usual. Smoked sweetbreads, frogs legs, and bouride (seafood in broth) was delicious, and presentation was beautiful. I should also mention, that they serve oysters on the half shell for $1 each. I had a dozen. They were ice cold, shucked cleanly and delicious. Such a bargain!

It's expensive, but there is no better place to indulge than Biff's Bistro. I got to try frog legs for the first time, and the chicken was amazing. Everyone treats you very nicely and you feel like you don't want to leave. Highly recommend it.

We had a lovely and delicious dinner at Biff's to celebrate our recent engagement. I mentioned when I made the reservation that we had just gotten engaged, and upon arrival they brought over two glasses of champagne! They offered their very sincere congratulations and were SO kind all night. Our server was fantastic - professional, knowledgeable, but also very nice. We had oysters to start (1$ each!) and some cocktails which were delicious (try the Hummingbird!). We then both had the Beef Bourgignon whicih is delicious. We finished with a cheese plate and they also brought out a dessert with 'congratulations' written in chocolate. The food is very good, but it's really the amazing service that makes this place so great. We had such a wonderful meal and will go back very soon.

I wanted to visit at least one of the O & B restaurants during our time in Toronto. This one is very handy for Union Station so we called in on our way back early on Saturday evening and they managed to squeeze us in. The service was excellent and the waiter was able to reassure me that the calf had not been raised in a crate. So I had the veal striploin (I found the cuts of meat very confusing) and it was pink/red in the middle so the calf had not been made anaemic by only being fed on milk.

Loved he dollar oysters although they were pretty small but great value and tasty. We had the Arctic Char and it was well prepared and tasty. Wine by the carafe was a reasonable value, nice but noisy atmosphere, got quiet after the early dinner and event crowd left -
