The restaurant is very upscale. Belongs to the same group that owns Auberge du Pommier (on of torontos finest). It is more continental than French but does have foia gras! The menu variety is not Great but the view is VERY NICE (it is located on the 60+ floor). The bar looked very alive and the cava is fantastic.
Great service. A very pleasant experience in Toronto.

We went to Canoe last night and had a fantastic round table in a corner of the restaurant. Since the walls were glass, we had a 270 degree view of the city and Lake Ontario. The service was impeccable and the food exceptional. The Canoe Raw Bar (seafood ) is fantastic and at $72 a good value for a group of 6 or 7 diners. The oysters were from the east and west coasts and just beautiful. The presentation was lovely. The Northern Woods Mushroom soup is exceptional and served in a unique way. I chose the Halibut. It was done to perfection and as fresh as any halibut I have purchased at Granville Island in Vancouver. The venison was done to perfection and very tasty. Reviews from the other guests at our table were all positive. The duck, pork and lamb all got thumbs up. The restaurant was packed - on a Wednesday night. I can't wait to go back. I would suggest making reservations as I imagine it books quickly.

Finally made it to Canoe, to celebrate my birthday.
What an experience! From the minute we walked in, we had 5 star service from reception through our dinner and up until we left. Dinner was spectacular: mushroom soup with creme fresh and truffle oil, lamb ribs and tenderloin and a most wonderful blue Char. Presentation was outstanding. Terrance, our server, was most accommodating. Helping to answer our inquiries, of the selections we were curious about . Nice wine and a special surprise Birthday plating of dessert, it could not have been a better planned evening. Kudos to all staff at Canoe and special shout out to Sommelier Joel.

Food and wine pairings were spot on. You must be willing to stretch your palate to include non-traditional offerings to enjoy this hot spot. Our Thursday evening dinner at 6:45 was to a packed restaurant. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful without being annoying. We had several courses and asked for half wine glasses as part of our pairings and they were happy to serve them and charge accordingly.

This made the food adventure enjoyable without the bloat from too much wine. The desert menu was underwhelming so two hot and frothy cappuccinos rounded out our experience.

Canoe seems caught in a time warp but its casual vibe among elegant eats with a killer view of Toronto is a must for anyone looking for a good time at a reasonable price.

A multicourse dinner with 6 different wines and a generous tip was about $300 for two.
