“Great beer, good food, and cozy surroundings.”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

If you love good food, fantastic beer, and a cozy atmosphere then go to the Granite Brewery on Eglinton & Mt. Pleasant. Be sure to try and get a seat in the "Library"; the front section of the pub, which has bookshelves lining one wall, and a nice big window facing the street. Also, there is a huge section in the back to accomodate overflow. Yes, the decor is dated, but if you can get past that, this place is really worth frequenting. It's a bit on the expensive side, but given the area that's not a huge surprise. The hand-crafted (in house!) beer is fantastic and there are many varieties to choose from. There is a nice menu selection and the food has always been reliably good.

“Great beer and curry”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

We had dinner in the "library" area up front. My curried fish was excellent and the service in this area was prompt but not rushed. My wife really enjoyed her pizza and green salad, it was huge with plenty to share. This is not a place where they have dozens of bottled beers, it's a brewery and they make and sell their own beer, mostly English-style ales. They even have their own brewer's retail on site where you can pick up a jug or keg to take home. Everyone knows the beer is good here but most new customers are surprised by the quality of the food. Granite Brewery is excellent value for money in what has become an expensive neighbourhood for dining.

“good food”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

Although this place hasn't had a decor change in 20 years, it's still a comfortable place to get together with friends. In the summer, their backyard patio is a wonderful hidden space.

Service can be slow at times, so not the place to go if you're in a rush.

The butter chicken was so popular on the daily special menu that it has moved to the main menu - I often order this. I'm not a beer drinker, but my husband and friends like their beer, all brewed in-house.

“Beer selection isn't great”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

I love the atmosphere of this place, from the library area, the bar area, back restaurant thing. The prices are decent and service is great. Food is a bit better than what you usually expect from a bar. What somewhat ruins it is the beer, which, being a pub, can be a make or break. All their beer from the IPA to the Scotch to the barley mead is far to bitter. The ringberry is passable, but no other beer is smooth enough for a good sit back and enjoy. They also don't serve any outside beers, so you don't have a way around these. Can be a definite deal breaker when the establishment is meant to drink beer in.
I know this makes it sound like I hate the place. I actually like it. I would be a regular if the beer was better. They have everything else going for it.
