Description: DISTRICT is a modern Japanese Bistro located in the heart of the trendy Riverside district of Toronto. DISTRICT blends sleek and sexy design with modern and authentic Japanese cuisine.  The result is a tempting and tantalizing fusion of sophistication and flavour in an elegant yet intimate lounge like setting.     Located on Queen Street East, in the space formerly occupied by Woodgreen Fish & Chips, District is a sleek and modern addition to the up-and-coming Riverside /Leslieville neighbourhood.    Arguably the area’s first ever sophisticated sushi restaurant, DISTRICT is a place to socialize, to linger, to relax and to savour a fresh and flavourful dining experience.

Walk through an elegant room to the patio oasis at the rear. Start with spaghetti sticks, very thin and tasty. Share sushi, edamame, yakatori, and the best cod in the city while sipping sake. Host Emily is as gracious as the décor. Enjoy!

We changed our plans for dinner abruptly last night because of traffic issues in the city and found this lovely new restau in Queen East Leslieville. The Miso Cod was spectacular, the service fast and friendly, the ambiance great, and the back patio lovely and relaxing on a warm summer evening. Will definitely go back!!

I have been to Mazz twice now and it is a cut or two or three above other Japanese restaurants. The food is delicious, the decor is beautiful and comfortable and the service is warm, gracious and excellent. I can envision going back again and again.

A most excellent Japanese resto with reasonable prices and delicious food. The sushi pizza is outstanding as is the gyoza soup. The room is beautiful as well. The service excellent.

We had dinner at Mazz for New Year's Eve. Mazz is pretty new in the 'hood and we hadn't heard any reviews as yet, but we took the plunge. It was wonderful!
The vegetable gyoza was perfect - not too doughy, great filling. The garden salad was a bit pricier than regular sushi restaurants, but came with the most beautiful presentation in gorgeous silver & glass bowls, mesclun rather than iceberg, laced with avocado, beet 'strings' and other treats and dressing on the side. Best garden salad in a sushi restaurant I've ever had.
The rolls were amongst the best we've had also. We had black dragon, red dragon, spicy salmon. The sushi pizza was good, but not as good as the rolls.
My only complaint was that there were no cocktails despite what appeared to be a stocked bar. The server told us that the liquor bottles were there for show, but nothing was in them! Bizarre! For the gyoza, 2 salads, 2 'fancy' rolls, 1 maki roll, sushi pizza, 2 beers and 1/2 litre of wine, we paid $100.
Excellent meal. Will definitely return
