“Quiet and cosy”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

The room is comfortable and decorated with beautiful photos of snowy landscapes.
It's quiet and cosy. The house is surrounded by trees and it's nice to hear all the birds singing.
David and Ellen are very helpful. We had a great breakfast with yoghurt that David is making himself, as well as delicious pancakes with orange zest.It was great to be able to use the bikes to visit the island. We enjoyed the stay very much and hope to come back :)

Tranquility and peace away from the hustle and bustle. This B&B/Studio is a 15minute stroll from the ferry through lovely trees. David and Ellen are helpful hosts and David will not only meet you from the ferry with your luggage but he will also lend you a bicycle or canoe so that once installed you can explore the islands on your own. We found David very willing to help and was keen to provide us with the breakfast that we liked - and the breadmaker makes a good loaf fresh for the morning. Timmie the dog will bark when someone arrives at the gate (that's his job) but we felt very safe there and it's a great thing to be able to say hello to people you meet. We were fortunate enough to be there when the Monarch butterflies were on their migration. Altogether a good trip.

We had a relaxing time at the Smileys' place. The small apt. in the back was perfect for us traveling with our son. David makes delicious bread and yogurt and stocks the frig. and pantry so you can cook as much as you want. They are there to help you if you need anything. There were 2 bikes and a canoe that we used. Our son biked all over. There are no stores, but the Rectory and the Island Cafe are right there and are good if you don't want to cook a meal. The ferry only takes about 10 min and is only 6.50 rt, so you could even go to Toronto Harbourfront to eat, shop, tour, or see some of the great free concerts near the ferry terminal. After 3 days of touring central Toronto, this was a perfect relaxing way to finish up our trip.
