“Great little spot for live music!”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

I was in Toronto on business and being a HUGE fan of the band Rush, I had to visit the Orbit Room as it is co-owned by Alex Lifeson, Rush's guitar player. I was surprised at how small the place was, but it was a very cozy, friendly atmosphere. I got there at about 9 on a Wednesday night and there were only a few people in there, but by the time the band started at 10:30, it was pretty full and by 11 it was packed! Very mixed crowd -- young hipsters, old guys, and 40-somethings like me. Very welcoming environment and friendly bartenders. As the other reviewer pointed out, I don't think they actually serve any food there, at least not that I can tell. Oh yeah, the band was fantastic too! I will definitely go back!

“Best Little Gem on College Street... Get the Funk Down There...”
Reviewed 25 January 2013

Small live music venue, 110 person capacity... Been going there for 17+ years, never encountered a bad band... some classic B3 players have played here over the years, Doug Riley, Lou Pomanti, Joey DeFrancesco, Tony Monaco... Bands range from rock, to soul, R&B, Jazz... House band for the first 10 years, The Dexters are making special appearances again... Usually once a month and always for the Anniversary parties... one of the few palces left in Toronto with amazing live music... Dave Murphy band rips it up on Fridays, Wednesday LMT funk the place down... Once a month Pretzel Logic fill the room with exacting Steely Dan songs... Run by co-owner Tim Noter with occassional appearances by co-owner Alex Lifeson... one of the few places that has an outdoor patio all year around...

“Just live music”
Reviewed 4 September 2012

We went to the Orbit Room (upstairs) with our niece and boyfriend while visiting town. It was at their recommendation when we requested a live music venue. The atmosphere was great and just as they had described. It shows here as a restaurant: we never asked but saw no menus or any 'food' come from a kitchen. Perhaps they serve food at different hours...lots of libations, though!

The band started at about 10:30, typical for a big city, but later than normal if you are from a smaller place: just be aware. They were quite good and played cover versions with some of their own arranging of many rock songs that spanned the 80's to now.

With respect to atmosphere, the place is very small. And, just as told to us, we got there early (about 9:30 p.m.), which assured us a wide choice of seating. $10 cover fee was worth it. By 11:00 it was standing room only and by midnight it was crowded room only. As the band played on people would get up and dance by themselves, as couples or with strangers. All the while a very safe and enjoyable feeling. Caution: once its crowded, don't leave your table unattended to dance. You will need to leave someone behind to hold it or else finish the night standing up...or dancing, I suppose.
