“A special place in history”

There's a nice tour of Province House, and a good film that explains the events of the 1864 conference. (It does make a lot of mention of socializing amongst the delegates--how very civilized!) The tour isn't long, but certainly covers the highlights.

“Very informative”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

As a Brit fascinated by history, I really enjoyed seeing the three rooms and getting an understanding of the process of forming confederal Canada, started at the Charlottetown conference 150 years ago. I didn't manage to see the film, which I regret. I suspect I would have given an extra star in my rating had I done so. This attraction is free. The staff are very helpful.

“free and interesting”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Nice house in PEI area. The free film (available in english and french) was about the history of the 1864 convention. It details how politicians just ate lunch, talked, ate dinner, talked, drink. Eventually followed by smoking and more drinking and more talking in the days to follow.

Other than the video, the place is nice to visit.

“Free and informative”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

The tour takes about 30 minutes to see 3 rooms, the room where the Charlottetown conference was held, the room that the PEI government uses still today and a library with a painting depicting the ball at the conclusion of the 1864 convention. A film (about 20 min) tells the history of the 1864 convention.
