Owner description: The birthplace of Confederation and the seat of PEI's provincial legislature since 1847, Province House National Historic Site is Charlottetown's most significant cultural landmark. Walk in the footsteps of the Fathers of Confederation as you learn about the history of this magnificent example of neo-classical architecture and see how it remains a centre of political life for Islanders today.

There is not much to this - three rooms and an interesting 17 minute film but it is worth the short time it takes to look around. It's all free.

Location is downtown Charlottetown within walking distance of all the attractions. Check out the large 1864 outside the building, there to celebrate 150 years since the Charlottetown Conference.

History was good, seeing they still use the same chamber for provincial government today was impressive.

An interesting piece of history. We didn't see the film, but there are three rooms open for viewing, one of which especially offers a glimpse into the Charlottetown Conference 150 years ago.

There's a nice tour of Province House, and a good film that explains the events of the 1864 conference. (It does make a lot of mention of socializing amongst the delegates--how very civilized!) The tour isn't long, but certainly covers the highlights.
