This old Victorian house is full of character. The owners, Jay and Carol, have done a great job of renovating this old home without losing any of its original charm. We stayed in the Cunard suite which we would highly recommend. The living room area is very cozy with a wood burning fireplace. Logs that burn for 2-3 hours are provided so you get the ambiance of a real fire without the smoke or heat. There is a fully equipped kitchen and tea, coffee, soft drinks and microwave popcorn are complimentary. The air jet tub is relaxing and the bed is very comfortable. A full home cooked breakfast is included. Jay and Carol went above and beyond with unexpected 'treats' for our anniversary.
If you want modern and boring, stay in a hotel...if you want old style charm and warm hospitality with personalized attention, this is the perfect spot!

Room Tip: Even though there were just the 2 of us, we enjoyed the extra space of the Cunard suite. Our second...

This was one of the best, if not the best, B&B I have ever stayed in. The host and hostess were delightful, friendly and most helpful setting us on a wonderful tour of PEI. The breakfast was sensational, with a lovely "afterbite." They provided every amenity imaginable and told us that they have learned from their own travels what travelers like and need. There were complementary sodas and coffee. A huge Jacuzzi in our room. Books, dvds, and on and on. I would HEARTILY recommend this Inn. It is beautiful and comfortable. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Actually there was no swimming pool, but I couldn't erase the rating. Each room is unique and l...

This was our favourite B/B while we were on a 10 day vacation in the maritimes. We stayed two nights at this fabulous location. The hosts are so fun and helpful, food was great, rooms supper clean and accommodation was just amazing. The rooms have everything one could imagine, we totally loved it. Top notch!!! Would stay again. And the city of Charlottetown is delightful as well.

Thanks for such a wonderful stay!!

My wife and I came to PEI for a weekend getaway for our one year anniversary and stayed at the Elmwood Heritage Inn. This was our first experience at a B&B and we were blown away; every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations.

The beautiful house is in a cozy little neighborhood and is tucked away from the street and traffic. It's within walking distance (or a short drive) from town where there are many restaurants, and we also walked to the race track / casino (only 3km away).

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by both Carol and Jay, and immediately felt very welcomed. We were shown to our room where they meticulously explained all of the amenities of the room and ensured we were comfortable.

The suite was beautiful and perfect for a romantic night in; including candles, fireplace with wood, and a radio to play music from your iPhone/iPod.

The breakfast was absolutely amazing. We're still talking about how delicious every part of the meal was!

As mentioned, this was our first experience at at B&B, but we can't say enough good things about our stay. We would definitely recommend and will certainly be back.

On a two-week trip to the Atlantic provinces of Canada, we stayed in 3 different B&Bs. We've stayed in numerous B&Bs over the years. The Elmwood Heritage Inn is by far the friendliest and most luxorious of all! We did pamper ourselves by spending 2 days in one of their suites, the Premier Suite. However, they do have many other room options. The hosts, Jay and Carol, really love what they do, and it shows. They were very helpful and attentive in providing us info on where to eat (Their restaurant recommendations were right on target!) and places to visit. They provided us with a very detailed maps of PEI and Charlottetown that helped us navigate around. They also served us full breakfast meals by candlelight! They accommodated any food allergies or dislikes. The suite itself was extremely spacious and quiet. The amenities included a refrigerator with complimentary drinks, a microwave with complimentary popcorn, and a coffee/tea pot. The bed was so cozy that we overslept the first night! The inn is located in a residential neighborhood that is safe and near downtown. You can walk to town in 10-20 mins. We walked to town in many different routes enjoying the beautiful homes in the area. The building is recessed from the street and not visible, but detailed instructions provided by Jay proved very helpful.

Room Tip: There are various size rooms to accommodate a range of budgets. Our suite was at the top-end and lo...

Elmwood is a truly beautiful heritage lady, made to sparkle by Carol and Jay's warmth, friendliness and generosity. My husband and I, along with our two daughters (aged 13 and 4) spent 5 nights in the Cunard Suite, a self-contained accommodation in this gorgeous B & B. This suite was extremely pretty and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen, which allowed us to cook for the girls of an evening after a busy day's sightseeing. Each day started with a tasty and beautifully presented breakfast served by Carol and Jay in the elegant dining room, where we enjoyed talking with fellow travellers. Two in our party require a gluten free diet for coeliacs disease and we found that Carol was well-informed about this dietary requirement and made a real effort to ensure that the GF food was varied and delicious. We found that both Carol and Jay were able to provide a wealth of information about PEI and the sights and activities, having been long-term residents of the island. In fact Jay started helping us with trip planning months before our arrival when we first enquired about a booking. A bonus for Australian tourists is that Carol and Jay are happy to phone Australia to assist with your booking and planning. Elmwood is excellently located in a quiet area in Charlottetown, only two or three minutes away from the town centre. We found it an easy drive to Cavendish and other locations around the island. Two things deserve a special mention. Firstly our two girls were made to feel warmly welcome as guests by Carol and Jay. This has not always been our experience with children in B & B's previously. Secondly nothing is too much trouble for Carol and Jay. They truly go out of their way to ensure that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable, which for us included a complimentary laundry service. I could have wept with gratitude for that alone by that point in our four week trip! The night we arrived we had a booking to attend a musical (made earlier by Jay on our behalf). On arrival to assist us making the musical on time Jay made a restaurant booking for us and then both Carol and Jay drove downtown with us to ensure we would not get lost. We are so happy we were able to stay at Elmwood and regard our time there as a real highlight of our trip. Chris and Michael.

Room Tip: Elmwood was quiet and extremely comfortable. The Cunard Suite is excellent if you are travelling wit...

If you are going to PEI, stay here. The house is old, big, and beautiful. The rooms were clean and well-appointed. They had all the modern amenities you could want with the charm of a past age (including functioning fireplaces with pre-prepared wood). Downtown Charlottetown was an easy walk, and the route to the boardwalk along the water was even shorter. I spent three nights with three friends in the Peake Suite, and it was perfect for us.

Jay and Carol were the perfect B&B keepers - welcoming, knowledgeable, present when we needed them, but not overbearing. Each morning, Carol sat with us to help plan the best route for the things we wanted to do during the day, and added any must-sees and must-dos she could think of. Without her, we wouldn't have certainly missed some of the island highlights. They prepared and served breakfast each morning, which was out of this world. I actually sent my friends and family a picture of the homemade biscuits and preserves because I couldn’t get over how delicious they were.

I’d definitely return without a second thought.

Room Tip: It depends on how many people you have and how much space you feel you need. Certainly, it is more...
