“Quaint! Reminds me of old European hotels”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

This is a sweet little property and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The front desk staff were nice if not a little un-polished, however, I thought it added to the charm. My room was very clean and I found it extremely comfortable and well-suited to my needs. My only beef was that breakfast service on one of the days was extremely slow and in the end, one of my dining partners had to walk away without receiving part of her meal, because we were scheduled for meetings (which was the reason we were in town). Also, the hot tub was lukewarm at best so a bit of a disappointed. That said, I did use the hotel gym and found it absolutely adequate. Loved the little bar at the front of the hotel - friendly bar staff were always up for a nice chat.

We stayed at this lovely old Hotel recently for three nights (whilst attending the Shellfish Festival, ) and really loved it !! It is an older Hotel, and has been well restored and maintained. We had an end room (429), with two windows, large closet, and plenty of room for myself, my daughter, and seven year old grandson (who describes the Hotel as ``awesome`` !!). The beds were extremely comfortable, and we all said we had the best sleep ever !! The Staff are courteous and helpful. We didn`t have time to use the pool (There is so much to see and do in Charlottetown !), but went down to look at it, and it looked great........maybe next time !!! It is well worth going up onto the roof terrace for the beautiful views across the city. We had breakfast in the dining room on our final morning.....very nice !! The Hotel is very well situated within easy walking distance of the waterfront, downtown, and the very beautiful Basilica, which should not be missed. This was our first visit to Charlottetown, but for sure, will not be our last !!

Room Tip: The rooms at the ends of the corridors seem to be more spacious...we had room 429, and it was lovely...

First time visiting the maritimes, we came for the PEI Shellfish Festival! Hotel has nice turn of the century charm with marble floors, crystal like door knobs, solid wood doors and Victorian era furnishings throughout the hotel. There's a nice rooftop patio that's perfect for reading a quiet book or taking a nap. Rooms are very clean, the shower is outstanding; I actually was startled by the water pressure the first morning:)
Location is ideal for walking to anywhere including the festival. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a great breakfast each day in the restaurant and service in both the restaurant and lounge was welcoming and genuine. Thank-you Rodd for making my first visit to PEI a memorable one:)

This old hotel is one of the original CN hotels, made in the days when train lines made sure they had classy places for customers to stay. Steeped in history, this hotel retains much of its original charm. Marble floors in the lobby, high ceilings, dark wood, wide hallways, big windows and brass plaques. A great deck on the roof gives a fabulous view of the harbour where you can watch the cruise ships slowly make their way to the dock.
The place is a little worn on the edges but more importantly it is clean, the staff are friendly and the location is ideal. The exercise room is typical (not much). The restaurant is not bad with reasonable prices

Room Tip: Ask for the fourth floor and a room with a harbour view

Last minute booking through the visitor center put us in this overpriced old hotel. Noisy, small rooms with old fixtures. Not quaint at all. Go on the floor to search for electrical outlets. Limited parking.
However staff is friendly and helpful but have limited authority.
Never will stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms with adjoining doors (you'll hear EVERYTHING) and make sure you are away fr...

Thank you for your comments. We are an older historic hotel in the center of Charlottetown but with many modern updates - flat screen TV.s, full size mini fridges, iron and boards, free internet and a modern updated exercise room.

We stayed 2 nights. The location is great as it is walking distance to everything in Charlottetown. The bed was sooooooooo comfortable (we travel a lot and this one tops it all). The bath towels smelled so fresh. On the second night we have booked as a package the Dinner feast Good Golly Miss Molly and this was excellent as well. My wife ate mussels for the 1st time and she loved it. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place anytime.

The good: Decent service and convenient location downtown; free (but limited) parking right in front of hotel is a plus;

The bad: need major updates in room even if you want to keep the hotel "historic", bathrooms could definitely be cleaner (eg hair in sink, specs and cracks on sink, black marks on tub tile) and hot water takes forever to get hot, no place in bathroom to put your things; taps in sink are hard to use (old fashion turning and water can spray on you if you are not careful; thin walls I can hear both of my neighbours talking; and there is an old building smell when you walk in your room and massive cleaning supplies' smell when you are in the public areas; and limited tv channels!
