“loved the veranda with a roof”

you know, it is what it is. yes the cottages are old and the decor certainly reflects this but everything you need is there, right down to a plunger. the beds were very comfortable, i slept like a baby. the place was clean and i felt comfortable. loved the shower, lots of pressure. after traveling around the island all day, it was nice to come home and sit out on the veranda for hours and relax with out the misquitos bothering us. never saw one. a few earwigs outside but hey, i got them here at home. if you want new, pay the $300 a night, not me!!!

Room Tip: go one street over on mount edward st and eat at Outfitters cook house, the food and prices were fan...

We booked this motel so we could rest a little on our trip back from the Magdalene's islands before we were heading for a 12 hours road trip, back home.
I called them when I booked, to let them know that we were arriving very late at night by the Ferry from Souris and they said there was no problem and we could check in 24h a day; but when we arrived at 2 a.m, the office was closed and the check in machine at the front displayed "No Vacancy". I tried entering my credit card or punch my reservation number but nothing happened.
We called and called the emergency number but no one answered and we were left out with my mother and my son outside at 2 a.m, having nowhere to go.
Fortunately the gentlemen at the Rodd Royalty Hotel front desk helped us find a room at the Howard Johnson hotel in Charlottetown and we had the chance to have a bit of sleep at 3 a.m.
I would not recommend this motel since they are completely unreliable .

My wife and I stayed in a one bedroom cottage last week. No complaints. The place was very clean all the sheets and towels were spotless had that new feel to them. Smaller bathroom but it was clean. Had a good kitchen we didn't really use it but had everything. Slept great love being in a cottage and not sharing a wall with someone. Air conditioning worked well and wasn't a noisy old machine wifi worked great too. Housekeepers were in each day and replenished everything. All in all good stay will be back.

Staff here are very pleasant and helpful. Consist of a motel and a number of cabins all of which are clean with updated paints. A full kitchen is included with dishes, utensils and pots & pans. They seem to cater to families as there is a large play area with a volleyball court. Grills & umbrellas are at most cabins. WiFi was very good. Plenty of restaurants and fast food outlets within a short drive. Quiet area. Would stay here again.

First arrived at the Royalty Maples for work and was planning on staying a week it. Picked here because I had some work to do and I like having a kitchen to prepare my own food. Nice small kitchen but everything worked and it had everything you need in a kitchen. Internet worked great which was a must for me. Seemed like all the units were full which was suprising for this time of year (Feb. 2013). Unit was clean had 2 double beds in bedroom and seperate living room and kitchen. I was originally going to stay a week (395 plus taxes) seemed extremely reasonable. Once I got to my job site it was going to take more then a week so I ended up needing a month which was only 895 for a month. Chris the owner agreed that my first payment could be reversed and put towards a monthly rate. It was no problem at all so I ended up staying a month and I just paid the difference. Weekly housekeeping was great. The unit was definatly older but everything worked well. Nice hot shower with good water pressure, nice and warm electric heat. No real complaints at all of this place. Housekeeping staff did great job each week when they refreshed my unit. Property is right off a main road and I was in cottage #1 which wasn't to far from the road and I couldn't hear a thing. Bed was comfortable and I had great sleeps.

All in all great stay. If you looking for a room you can cook in this is the spot for you. Everythings cleaned, well maintained and internet works awesome compared to some properties.

Room Tip: If your looking for a spot with a kitchen every unit here offers one.The motel is more affordable bu...

Thank you for your review. We always aim to be one of the most affordable properties within Charlottetown. Although this isn't the newest property we ensure the property is well maintained and clean. This will be our 4th year with the property and appreciate everyone's comments as it has helped us prioritize the updates we have done over the past 4 years and future ones.

Thank you for your business and we hope to see you again.

Checked in June 30th for 4 nights in a cottage. Everythign was well kept, clean. Staff was friendly at check in and each morning i enjoyed watching the housekeepers rip around on the golf carts going unit to unit cleaning. Kitchen was well stocked with everything. Enjoyed coming home each evening and having the dishes all done what a treat that is!! Wifi worked better the 90% of the chains we stayed at on our trip. Location was good all the stores you could ever need are within a minute or two away. Beer store across the street. We were at the beach within 20. Its right on the highway which worried me but after about 6pm you would think its a residential street. I always enjoy staying in these smaller properties that have been around for a while. Phones in the room would be nice but just used the my cell and the toll free number for the property that was basically the same. Was really pleased to see the sign posted in the room warning about smoking and noise etc gave a sense of security. Overall good stay units are definately not new but who in this day and age is going to build cottages in the middle of city for rent. As long as they are clean which they are I can't complain becuase these properties are a rare find and when you find one as well kept as these were there is no reason to stay anywheres else

Your feedback is very much appreciated it. The phone system idea is something we have defiantly considered and will continue to into the future. Our goal is to continue to update and renovate the property each year and once we have to the level we are striving for we will then begin to add additional amenities. Over the past year we have replaced carpets in a number of units, updated bathrooms, updated older (noisy) air conditioners, LED 32in TV's in all cottages, headboards and curtains in the motel rooms, purchased all new higher thread count linens, new blankets and upgraded towels, face clothes, hand towels and bathmats. Along with that a 24 hour self serve check in machine is now available to allow guests to check in on their own schedule instead rushing for our office hours when they mention they will be a late arrival.

Thank you very much for your review and we hope to see you again for another stay with us in the future.

We had booked this place on Expedia, ended up we did not stay the night. Arrived to a dump. Looks like it was done in the 70s style, window all open, asked for non-smoking, this place reeked of cigarette smoke, no remote for the tv and when time to sleep the bed linens looked as if they had not been washed. Hair on the pillows. We left and found a hotel just up the street cheaper than this place and ten times as nice.
