Our cruise arrived and we had not planned any shore activities. We went to the Founders Hall and found Kaylie to be both very helpful and very patient. She recommended several activities she thought we would enjoy and explained them to us. We decided on a horse drawn carriage tour and we were not disappointed. We did not take in the museum portion.

I would recommend the Founders Hall for families with kids.

As adults interested in Confederation, we were impressed by the sets that were used to portray the information, however the videos used throughout the hall were set up as TV broadcasts (i.e. breaking news bulletins). They were generally thin on details and we often stood there after a video segment ended, dubious that the presentation we had heard/seen was the entire section for this portion of the hall. Typically the video echoed the info available in the plaques in the hall. I wish it had gone into more detail or that there had been separate kids and adult versions. The version we heard was great for kids, but left a lot to be desired for adults.

That said, the sets themselves were impressive. For the price we paid (about $10 each), I did not feel this was a good value.

I also notice that if you write nice comments (i.e. five star review) on their comment card, you get put on their wow board near the front door. There is a section to fill in your phone number on the card. Some people had included their phone number and name and this was now public information available to anyone walking into the centre. I would not be impressed if this was my info...

We walked in not having planned out our trip to Charlottetown very well. They had tons of pamphlets and were able to talk about several of the local events that weekend, which was helpful.

We also took the self-guided tour (with a recorded 'guide') and learned a lot from it. The headsets had a bit of a 'wow factor' since they played the appropriate message for each exhibit within about a 2-foot radius of the exhibits and nothing when you weren't on an exhibit. Fun for two 20-somethings and I imagine kids would have a blast with them too. The exhibits themselves were detailed and had a bit of humor too.

The staff was very helpful in planning our time in Charlottetown. The information centre closes relatively early, so if you have questions or are looking for guides/pamphlets, keep that in mind.

This attraction in downtown Charlottetown has been closed for the past 2 summers. The funding to keep it operational ran out and the cost to bring it up to a more interactive level was not available, so there was no choice but to close it down. In all honesty, it wasn't a half bad attraction for the first few years but it started to look dated and was in desperate need of an upgrade.
