Fairholm National Historic Inn

Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 21 August 2014

Hi,

I recently stayed at the Clark House for five weeks while working at my organization's Charlottetown office. Clark House is a set of apartment-style accommodations, recently built behind the Fairholm Inn.

Wow, wow, wow is all I have to say! Clark House is new, clean and contemporary, fully equipped for stays that are a big longer than your usual trip. I was able to have all of the (stylish) comforts of home, down to cooking my own meals and catching up on my Netflix TV shows! Even though I worked long hours, Clark House was a peaceful little oasis, right down to my very own balcony. Glass of wine under the pergola before heading out to all the nearby downtown attractions - don't mind if I do!

What impressed me the most about this hotel is the exceptional service. Little things like a cup of coffee in the hotel on my first day of work was a great touch, until I got my bearings and my routine. Warm, fresh banana bread to greet me at check in after a long drive? Perfect. Even Doris the Innkeeper noticing my yoga mat and suggesting local spots showed genuine interest in guests and making sure people feel welcome.

I highly, highly recommend Clark House for your next visit to Charlottetown, long or short.

Room Tip: Pick a room facing the pergola!

Hi Jackie, as one of our first Clarke House long-term guests it is great to receive some in depth feedback on your stay. It was our pleasure having you for your 5 week stay, our innkeeper Doris puts a lot of time and effort into the little things as she knows what a difference they can make for our guests. Our Pergola has been a real hit this summer so it's great that you got to spend some time under there. Thank you!

The accommodations where suggested by the PEI tourist board after we crossed the bridge from New Brunswick. We arrived late and did not know what was waiting for us after a long drive (we are from Ontario). The accommodations where incredible, very clean, beautiful, spacious, and the keeper of the Inn made us feel right at home. I could actually stay a week if I could but my time line was short. The room that we had also had a washer and dryer that was shocking to see. They where big and are an excellent addition to the suite. The Inn is very quiet and is located near the centre of town, walking distance to restaurants and shops.

We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our new Clark House expansion. We figured that having a washer/dryer in 2 of the units would be a convenient addition for guests who had some last minute laundry. Hopefully you will have an opportunity to stay with us for an extended stay in the future! Thank you for taking the time to review us, we greatly appreciate it!

Doris is a superb Inn Keeper and sets a standard that has been unparalleled in our b&b experiences! Professional, exquisite decor and character set this Inn apart. It is in close proximity to the historic part of Charlottetown and it is pretty darn cool to tell your friends you stayed at a National Historic Site of Canada! Thank you Doris for your hospitality (and the fresh cookies!), we hope to see you again someday!

Thanks for taking the time to review us. The cookies and fresh treats never seem to stop coming with Doris! Hopefully the two of you were able to take in some of the non-stop events going on in downtown Charlottetown this summer. We would love to have you back to stay with us if you come back to the island!

Arrived late evening after a day of driving around Nova Scotia. Pleasantly surprised by the Inn keeper, for whom a 9.30 pm arrival was no problem, and who happily helped make a dinner reservation. Very well kept with charming artifacts. The breakfast was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. It was a nice touch that staff (seemed to be) youngsters on school break, working and r making an effort. Don't forget to stroll Charlottetown itself -- the place where Canada was formed.

Thanks for the review. It's great that you had the opportunity to roam around Charlottetown as 2014 is an especially big year here on the island! We find it very important to be as accommodating to our guests as possible, no matter the check in time. Hopefully you will return to PEI in the future and stay with us again! Thanks

we were lucky enough to be able to spend 5 nights in this wonderful b and b.our room was called Florence babe rogers suite,it was large and had every single thing one could want....just out side our room was a small sun-room that i just feel in love with..you could see the town from there and watch everyone coming and going..its a short walk to downtown and restaurants night life..every where we eat the food was fresh and flavorful. Doris and Judy could not do enough for us..the breakfast was cooked to order every morning starting with fresh fruit and some kind of muffin or hot bread than on to a full hot breakfast...every afternoon Doris would make fresh lemonade and chocolate chip cookies..on our last night AL mentioned that he loved oatmeal cookies with raisins..as we were leaving this wonderful place Doris came running out with a bag of oatmeal cookies...needless to say we left feeling so happy and our souls had been renewed.we could not thank them enough..the owners of this place have two jewels that work for them.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review, it really means a lot to us! The sun room really is a great little area, I also enjoy spending lots of time in there. I will be sure to pass on your praises to Doris and Judy, we certainly could not operate the way we do without them! Hopefully we will see you back here some time in the future.

My husband and I recently stayed two nights at this wonderful inn. We stayed in the loft which was not only charming but spacious and full of small thoughtful touches. The antique furniture and gracious rooms are a delight throughout but the warmth and helpfulness of all the staff made it really special.

The Fairholm Inn is a very special place! Amazing history and architecture, very accommodating, and super dog friendly. We brought our Poodle x and he had full run of the house and yard. Everyone was so inviting and we had a wonderful stay. Great food and location! Highly recommended... you will love your stay here! Also... there's a ghost!

Thanks for taking the time to review us Kyla! It's always nice to have a furry little friend come for a stay, your dog could not have been any more well behaved. The Fairholm staff and ghost hope you'll join us again for another visit!
